A Few Thousand Steps

An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day. -Henry David Thoreau
A beautiful day begins with walking a few thousand steps. I feel blessed with a morning walk that brings serenity and positive energy to run the day.
I started walking with my grandpa when I was a little kiddo. We used to walk around a nearby University campus and usually stopped by a public library to read for an hour or so. And since then, I have had no inertia for walking at almost any time of the day, although I cherish walking most early morning and later in the day.
A walk becomes a mindful practice of observing thoughts and reflection. I often lose track of time while walking leisurely or near the woods. Walking becomes a meditation in a tranquil ambiance.
I love to walk in the woods, where the smell of grass and greens refreshes and the cool breeze regenerates. And I cannot resist but walk more in pleasant weather on a rainy, foggy day. The sounds of birds chirping, drizzling, and the gentle touch of the wind uplift the spirit.
A short walk in the middle of a hectic day dissolves fatigue and brings calm. It refreshes me and lets me focus better.
Walking with my Alsatian creates the most beautiful moments of the day. And she loves walking as much as I do.
I walk every day and look forward to another few thousand steps every morning since walking is a spring that brings joy. It is a perennial source of bliss and tranquility. And I walk because I find myself in the process.
But the beauty is in the walking; we are betrayed by destinations. -Gwyn Thomas
