A bit of nostalgia or Much Ado About Nothing?

Raise your hand if you love your Grandma’s cooking

What I wouldn’t give for one more day with my nana.

We spent hours in the kitchen together, the focal point of her house.

I loved to be in her company and used to sit on a tall stool beside the kitchen island.

Her Sunday Lunch with Black Forest Gateau was legendary.

Even the blackbirds gathered to get drunk on the leftovers.

She was friends with the birds and a massive spider who appeared when she was home alone.

We happily made jams, cakes or biscuits every weekend, and she was a fantastic storyteller.

Raise your hand if you love movie night

I miss the days when watching a film was an event.

When I lived in Canberra, we had a movie night once a week.

Mainly because Canberra was like a ghost town on weekends.

All the diplomats and suits returned to Sydney.

We would head to Blockbusters to pick out a newly released movie.

And grab a Hawaiian pizza or Chinese takeaway before heading home.

We would gobble down the food before firing up the DVD player and settling in for the night. It was pure bliss.

Raise your hand if you have a favourite book or play

My fave play is Much Ado About Nothing.

Who can resist such dialogue as…

Beatrice: I wonder that you will still be talking, Signior. Nobody marks you.

Benedick: What, my dear Lady Disdain! Are you yet living?

Believe it or not, this is an unconventional love story between them.

I love how feisty and independent Beatrice is compared to Ophelia in Hamlet.

Or Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
