A Drone In The Technology Zone
A useful new gadget flying in the air
What is a Drone? A drone is an unmanned flying vehicle. It makes a sound when it passes by. The first time I saw a drone was three years ago.
My first experience of a Drone At a relative's grand daughter’s wedding, a noisy aerial vehicle passed over our heads and I said what is this funny-looking noisy thing. My cousin, who already knew that it had been hired by the wedding planners said to me “You are a foolish rustic person, don't you know that this is an aerial gadget taking pictures of the people at the wedding?”. She however did not know the name of the gadget.
It was a drone and after that day I never appeared silly whenever I saw this gadget flying in the air. This is what Technology does for us. It brings new things that we have not heard off and they slowly creep into our lives.
Applications and advantages of Drones Where are the drones used? The Drone is used in many applications.
#1. Entertainment Industry: In most of the countries in the world, the entertainment industry uses the drone to cover all large gatherings whether they are weddings, festival, conferences or other functions.
#2. Aerial Mapping: It is now being used for aerial mapping, security, and surveillance, industrial inspections as it has downward-facing sensors and multispectral cameras. It measures distances accurately and volumetric measurements.
The advantages of aerial mapping are that the speed is very fast and it is reported that it is five times faster than mapping by land and the cost is much less.
When builders make buildings the surveyors map the city both by the aerial view and by land to get the exact picture of the location and scene.
#3. Agriculture: Drones help farmers by dispersing seeds, fertilizers, water, and pesticides quickly. It is more efficient than when it is done manually. This protects crops from pests, saves time for crop scouting, and reduces the cost of farm production, and good quality crops can be obtained.
#4.Military: Drones for use in the military are to target decoys, for combat missions, research and development, and for supervision all over the world.
#5. Industry: Drones are now applied to transform business processes as it is useful for project planning at reduced costs, time and manpower, and safety of the personnel working in the organization.
To conclude, Some thoughts on the future of Drones: Drone technology is old history but it was not developed much for a long time. Now, both Internet of things and artificial intelligence have made its development faster. so it is making great progress and a lot of research work is being conducted in this area.
There are a lot of career prospects in Drone Technology. Since its applications are in agriculture, industry, entertainment, military usage, and accurate aerial mapping so each time of industry will require people to work in this specialized area.
Drone technology has great opportunities as all organizations using Drones will require Drone engineers, Drone pilots, wireless communication engineers, and software developers
