Abstract

"A Drabble a Day 2: The Drabbling" is a creative writing initiative where participants are encouraged to write a drabble—a story exactly 100 words long—each day based on a randomly generated word. The project is spearheaded by the author, who also contributes their own drabbles and maintains a weekly roundup of submissions. Last week's stories are celebrated, and the authors who participated are acknowledged. The upcoming week's prompts are listed, ranging from "KILOGRAM" to "PLOT." The author invites more writers to join the challenge, emphasizing the importance of following the submission guidelines of The Fiction Writer's Den, the publication where the drabbles are submitted. Oh, hello there, I wasn’t expecting to see you. Ah, I see you staring at my pile of body parts and tentacles. Strictly for research, I assure you. And also, fun…

Last week we started a game. I’d like to thank the people who have participated so far: Eva MacInnes JF Danskin Jay C Wells Erosia Potter Rena Aliston H.R. Parker AmyLee, Writer || Fiction, Personal Essays, Poetry

If you’re not reading their stuff, you’re really missing out.

Check out the stories from last week here. I’ll keep updating as they come through:

If I missed you, or your story, please let me know in the comments and I’ll add you in. Do not think I have anything like a system here.

For those who want to take part – here are the rules:

  1. Every day there is a word. I use a random word generator for that word.
  2. I then write a drabble that, in some way, features the word. (Because it’s a drabble, I keep it to 100 words exactly for the challenge).
  3. Those 100 words don’t include whatever introduction you might have, or promotional blurb. It only includes the story itself.
  4. Obviously, the only other rule is that you stick to the submission guidelines for the publication you are submitting to. I am submitting to The Fiction Writer’s Den, so I keep to their rules.
  5. When you do publish, make sure to tag me. I really want to read what you’ve done.

Without further ado- this week’s words:

1/8 Monday KILOGRAM

1/9 Tuesday SMIDGEN

1/10 Wednesday WHIPLASH

1/11 Thursday MOOCH

1/12 Friday DECIPHER

1/13 Saturday RHYME
