MASH-UP
A Dodo, a Dinosaur, and a White Rhino Walk Into a Bar …
Seventy million years later, it’s always the same joke.
Note: This fiction story was created for The Kraken Lore’s Medium Day Mega Mash-Up.
A dodo, a dinosaur, and a white rhino walk into the space bar on Moon IV, located at 27 degrees on the ecliptic plane of Jupiter.
The barwoman is an old grandma, she has seen weird things in her life, but three weird things walking together is too weird to be weird. It’s like finding a baby in a bassinet on your porch and realizing he’s holding an Amex Space Centurion with unlimited funds in his chubby hands. It’s usually a trap.
“Excuse me for a minute! A quick call to make,” she says to her three customers before disappearing into the office. Only two yellow pills left. She needs to restock. But one will be enough for today. She swallows and gains the silver liver superpower of the Great Intergalactic Barman. For the next 24 hours (Earth), she can drink any quantity of alcohol without getting drunk or harming her liver.
“What can I get you?”
“I’ll have a Diki-Diki cocktail with coconut juice instead of grapefruit,” says the dodo. “Make one for yourself as well.”
“I’ll have a White Winter Cosmopolitan with grapefruit juice instead of cranberry juice,” says the white rhino. “Make one for yourself as well.”
Of course, she thinks. And now the dinosaur. Let’s see what’s the coconut joke here.
“I’ll have a -”
But before he can finish his sentence and the elaborate joke — the space bar on Moon IV explodes.
Thanks to her silver liver superpower, the barwoman has time for one last thought before dying.
It’s always the same joke with dinosaurs. They can’t show up anywhere without attracting asteroids.

I wrote this story with a time limit to respect the spirit of the mash-up initially taking place during Medium Day. Thank you for the fun, Jonathon Sawyer:
