A Dilemma in the Darkness

After a moment’s hesitation, you start to follow the path that was signposted ‘Certain Death’, feeling pretty sure that this was a misdirect.
The brick-lined tunnel slopes down steeply this time, but at a constant angle. You put your hands to the wall to steady yourself as you go.
Then the ground disappears under your feet, and you find yourself falling…
Is this ‘the end’?
But no. You wake to find yourself slumped against a stone wall, with yellow light all around, stone pillars, and a mysterious corridor leading away. Someone is splashing water in your face.
“Wake up, hon.”
You focus, seeing a beautiful but very alien green face. You blink, looking at her in silence.
“It’s me — Daniela,” says the alien woman, looking more than a little annoyed as she points to herself. “You’ve not forgotten me again, have you?”
“Uh…” you mutter, trying to shake off your confusion. “I’ve not, I mean… hello, Daniela.” You stand. “I’m here to rescue you! We need to be getting out of here before the troll gets us.”
“Mm-hmm. Time to go home.”
You nod. “I mean, unless you think there’s still a chance with the Sword of Light…?”
She stands, then shakes her head. “My lover, my wife, we need to get you back to our people. You’re so confused.”
“Uh, about that ‘lover’ thing…”
You begin to argue with Daniela. Time and again, she insists that you are her wife, and that you yourself are an alien from the Eadrom people named Fiona.
But you can’t accept what you are hearing… even though you look down to see that your own hands are blue and alien-looking.
And then, perhaps through tiredness or stress, you begin to lose patience…
