A Devoted Father Prepares a Lavish Dinner,
to bring loved ones together for an unforgettable celebration.
The Dad wishes to see his family:
Mr. Ballard and his 16-year-old daughter reside in a quaint town. His married son and daughter, and their children, live in the nearby neighborhood.
These relatives only visit when they need money from the elderly gentleman, which deeply disheartens Mr. Ballard.
One Saturday, he prepared a lavish feast. He grilled an abundance of meat, and said to his daughter, “Daughter, invite our relatives, friends, and neighbors to dine with us… let us celebrate with a feast!”
His daughter went out into the street and began to shout,
“Please help us put out a fire at my dad’s house!”
Within minutes, a group of neighbors rushed out to assist, yet Mr. Ballard’s family seemed to ignore the cries for help.
The guests who arrived enjoyed a delicious feast and indulged in drinks until late into the night.
Shocked and surprised, the father looked at his daughter and spoke to her.
“These guests were mostly strangers to me, some of whom I had never met. So, where were our relatives, friends, and neighbors?”
The daughter made it clear that the individuals who left their homes did so to assist in extinguishing a fire, not to participate in the party.
“These are the individuals who deserve our generosity and hospitality,” she stated.
Conclusion:
Those who do not support you in your struggles should not celebrate with you during your triumphs.
