A Deprivation Of A Few Moments Of Pleasure — Is Better Than Permanent Regret:
Transgressing the limits of Allah when alone — What is required of the Muslim is to beware of Falling into sins committed when he is on his own,For Allah(swt) criticized the one who conceals his sin From people, but does not try to conceal it From Allah.
The Prophet (saw) warned against sins committed when one is alone and in secret, as is mentioned in the Hadith narrated From Thawban (May Allah be pleased with him) From the Prophet (saw), that he said: “I certainly know people of my Ummah who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihamah, but Allah will make them like scattered dust.”
Thawban said: O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us and tell us more, so that we will not become of them unknowingly. He said: “They are your brothers and From your race, worshipping at night as you do, but they will be people who, when they are alone, transgress the sacred limits of Allah .”
(Narrated by Ibn Majah — 4245)
With regard to the Hadith of an-Nawwas ibn Sam‘an al-Ansari (May Allah be pleased with him), who said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (saw) about righteousness and sin and he said: “Righteousness is a good attitude, and sin is that which wavers in your heart and you do not want the people to Find out about it”.
This is the criterion For determining what is sin , when there is any uncertainty about the matter.
An-Nawawi (May Allah have mercy on him) said, commenting on this Hadith:“What is meant by “wavers in your heart” is that there is uncertainty and hesitation, one does not Feel comfortable or at ease with it, and there is doubt and Fear that it may be a sin.” (Sharh Muslim (16/111)
Ibn Rajab (May Allah have mercy on him) said:
“This indicates that sin is that which causes discomfort, anxiety, worry, and unease, and one does not Feel comfortable or at ease with it; at the same time, it is something that people Find abhorrent and they criticize it if they Find out about it. This is the clearest indication of sin when there is any uncertainty about it.” (Jami‘ al-‘Ulum wa’l-Hikam (p. 254)
So,the point is that — living according to the Laws made by Allah(swt) is beneficial For us. By committing sin, a person will temporarily Fulfill his desires, but he will remain restless until he repents.
Therefore, the Success of this Life and the Hereafter lies in living according to the Command of the Lord.
