A Cousin Refused To Help
A man went to him for financial assistance
People who are blessed with abundance often live a lavish lifestyle.
Life can throw you lemons without any notice. It might be that a person is living a good life with plenty of money to provide a comfortable lifestyle for his family. He might have a good job and a nice home. The family has enough to enjoy life. Then everything could change.
A man had all those things. He thought life was going well. Then he fell upon hard times. The company where he worked went out of business, and he was left without a job. He had a difficult time securing new employment, and his savings were being drained.
As life had become difficult, the man asked his cousin for some financial help. He asked if he could get a loan of several thousand dollars to help him pay his bills during this rough period.
The cousin was worth millions, but he refused the loan because he said he had made it a practice to never lend out money.
A few thousand dollars would not have made a dent in his finances since he had millions at his disposal. Yet this person was unwilling to help out a relative who was having hard times.
Lending money sometimes causes problems if the person who receives the money is unable or unwilling to pay it back. Giving a gift is sometimes a preferred option.
It may be better to help out a family member in need by offering to give him a gift of some money if the giver is in a financial position to do so. If the person who receives the money pays it back, it can be considered a bonus.
Families and friends are there to help each other. If they are in a position to help someone, it would be beneficial to both parties. The giver is often blessed as much as or more than the person who is helped.
