A Conversation About Reality
Free Verse
Once upon a time a younger me Questioned if life was real Was I alone In this big old world
Was everyone else Sent forth By some alien race To make my life a living misery
Please excuse the thoughts Of a six, maybe seven year old me But I recently read a piece Questioning reality
And what was real The thoughts of a younger me Suddenly resurfaced Like a forgotten memory
Now that the introduction is done Lets go back To topic of piece Question is, what is real?
I find this to be Quite interesting Not just for prose But philosophical thought
I view reality As a perception of belief Not right and wrong Or truths and lies
But what sits deep In hearts and minds Whether factual Or corrupted thought
It is irrelevant As long as its what people believe So the one whose words Dribble the eyes
Is the one whose thinking Becomes accepted Whether propaganda Or facts and truths
Reality belongs To the best of orators The eloquent rhetoric peddlers And mind benders
Nowadays, fake news Is all we hear Mostly from the ones Who are its biggest culprits
But they control the narrative So their still believed Uncritical thinking At its very best
But that’s all for now I hope I’ve shared The intended theme Of this piece of mine
That perception is reality And the ones who control it Shape existence As we know it to be
As always, Thank you for reading And thank you America Zed For an inspiring piece
Thank you to Dr Mehmet Yildiz and the entire illumination team. Here’s the piece that inspired.
