A Complete Choose-Your-Own Story
Right here on Medium. And in bite-sized installments!
There’s no shortage of great short stories and flash fiction here on Medium. Less common are ‘choose your own adventure’ stories — yeah, like the ones you read as a kid, where each chapter ends with a choice.
Still, some writers have been giving it a go. Medium works pretty well for such a format:
- Each story can act as a chapter.
- They can link together in a huge network
- There’s no limit to how many branches can be added!
Since Bradan Writes Stories wrote the first chapter of Until Luck Runs Out, many other authors (e.g. Sieran Lane, Jay C Wells, Jonathon Sawyer, P. L. Goaway, John Fanidis) have contributed chapters. That’s right, the story is a collaboration.
This has led to a lot of creativity and weirdness — but unlike so many projects that get abandoned, this is a complete tale, with endings! It’s also written entirely in 100-word drabbles, making it quick to enjoy a few chapters at a time.
