A Common Right of Passage

Free verse response to Vagabond Voices writing and living prompt right of passage

This right of passage is one that exists not to one such as me in this foreign land I call home.

Money is the only language with a voice met with smiles, and a warm wai greeting.

Recite the money mantra to gain yearly acceptance into this land, there is no permanence a family will bring.

No point wasting breath on any other words. How much, how much, how much, it’s universal I believe.

A golden fleece at authority’s disposal may get your needed acceptance; until the fleece has itself been fleeced. At this point, you will no longer care for the desired right of passage; or any other right of passage.
