A Colorful Relationship

Giving a voice to an untold story

Author’s Photo

There was a peahen, and there was another, two good friends. One had a blue-green neck, and the other had a gold-green neck.

Finding something to eat along the edge of the road and minding their business.

Then, there was a peacock on a nearby high ground, looking at these two best friends.

“Hey, beauties. Will you join me?” Perhaps he might have asked.

“Thank you for the invitation, but no thanks,” a blue-green peahen responded.

“What is he thinking, asking us to join him?” the blue-green peahen said to the gold-green one.

“Yeah! So lame,” gold-green also agreed.

“Girls, I really like to spend time with you. You won’t regret it,” the peacock said again.

“This one is becoming a headache,” the blue-green peahen said to the gold-green one.

“But he’s kinda handsome,” the gold-green peahen responded.

“Hey! Don’t you dare to do that,” the blue-green one said to the gold-green one.

“Do what?” said the gold-green peahen.

“You are unbelievable. I can see you blushing,” said the blue-green peahen.

“Girls, I am not like others. So, why don’t you join me?” Peacock interrupted their conversation.

“See, he is singing the same old song,” Blue-green one hissed.

“Perhaps he is telling the truth.” Gold-green one opposed her friend.

“Wait, where are you going?” Blue-green one screamed at the Gold-green one.

“See you later,” said the gold-green one as she flew to the peacock. Then, both peacock and peahen vanished into the bushes.

The blue-green one raised her voice, perhaps to resent her friend’s foolish action or to show anger at her friend’s betrayal.
