Summary

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement has publicly denounced any claims of supporting Donald Trump, clarifying that he is not an ally to their cause and that any endorsement from individuals claiming to represent BLM is a publicity stunt.

Abstract

The article addresses a claim circulating that the BLM Movement supports Donald Trump. It categorically states that this claim is false, as per the BLM's official stance. The BLM Movement gained significant attention in the wake of high-profile incidents involving the killing of Black individuals by police and others. While the movement advocates for civil rights and against racism, Trump has been vocal in his opposition to BLM, labeling it a "symbol of hate." The article references a specific incident where a former BLM advocate from Rhode Island, Mark Fisher, endorsed Trump, which the national BLM organization dismissed as a publicity stunt. They further emphasized that Trump is viewed as an adversary to the pursuit of a just society for Black people. The article concludes by acknowledging the existence of Black Republicans and Trump supporters, including Black members of Congress, but makes clear that these individuals' support for Trump does not reflect the position of the BLM Movement.

A Claim That The BLM Supports Trump

It is not true according to BLM

Black Lives Matter held rallies.

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement became prominent as Black people were being killed by police and others in greater numbers. Some high-profile cases brought the matter before the public. Americans who are for civil rights began to fight against racism through BLM.

The claim that Black Lives Matter was countered with All Lives Matter. Of course, they do. Everyone should be able to expect acceptance and respect from others, but racism is a big problem in the United States.

Trump was not a fan of BLM and made it known through his words and actions. He called the BLM a “symbol of hate.”

The Washington Examiner had a story by Luke Gentle titled: “BLM leaders rip Trump endorsement as ‘publicity stunt’.”

The national organization for Black Lives Matter is ripping a former Rhode Island BLM advocate’s endorsement of former President Donald Trump as a “publicity stunt.”

Trump lauded Mark Fisher, a purported co-founder of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, as a “great guy” and declared he was “very honored to have his and BLM’s support” in a Wednesday Truth Social post.

BLM’s national organization derided the endorsement and labeled Fisher an “imposter,” according to a report.

“This is a publicity stunt,” BLM and the Black Lives Matter Rhode Island PAC, which is separate from the group Fisher is purportedly attached to, said in a statement.

BLM put out a post which read:

“To be clear, Donald Trump is a terrorist who committed treason and tried to subvert American democracy. He is no friend to Black people seeking to live in a just society. And we in NO WAY support him.”

There are Black Republicans, and there were Black supporters of Trump in Washington, D.C. on January 6. There are Black members of Congress who are Republicans and support Trump. Those people may or may not support the BLM.
