Ineffable forces were at play. Changes were palatable. She could sense her entire life morphing into something very different.

Claudia could feel a calming inner peace overcome her. Was this what it felt like when dreams come true?

She exited the cab and walked into the giant building. During the elevator ride she was surprisingly calm. Normally she would be nervous and jittery but that was her old self. Her new self was now beaming with a peaceful and soothing light. Everyone in the elevator could feel it.

Claudia walked into the boardroom and took her place at the head of the long mahogany table. The room fell into silence.

“The time has come for unequivocal change,” she paused for effect. “We cannot wait for change to overcome us. We must be that change. We are big and powerful and quite often in society it is the big and powerful who resist change the most, holding on for dear life to the status quo. Not only must we throw out the old models but we must change the core values that were the foundations of those old models. We must change our very purpose, not just as a corporate entity but also as the individuals who give essence to the whole. Everything changes NOW.”

Claudia spoke for almost an hour. After leaving the boardroom she went back down the elevator and back outside. She walked two blocks to another skyscraper and went inside. Soon after another elevator ride she was sitting in a chair being interviewed on a national television network. She told the nation about her plans for change.

Then Claudia went home and played with her children and the family dog.

She had spent a lot of time and energy working her way to the top. For so much of that time her singular purpose was to get to the top. That was success as defined by the collective zeitgeist. After fulfilling her purpose by making it to the top she realized that she needed a new purpose. Through some excellent teachers she learned that we all have a greater purpose underlying everything we do. Now that she had attained the power she had always sought she could now help point the way to that greater purpose for others. She could be one who initiates the changes necessary to uncover that greater purpose and help change the world.

Those excellent teachers were her children and the family dog.
