A Calm Italian Island With Stunning Beaches Seeks Digital Nomads and Helps With up to 15,000 Eur to Settle There
Sardegna, Italy, a large island at the heart of the Mediterranean.
Sardinia (Sardegna in Italian) is a beautiful Italian island in the Mediterranean sea. It is an amazing place for summer holidays, with stunning scenery especially on its coasts. The beaches are some of the best in the world, people are so “Italianly” friendly, and you get Italian food spiced up with local specialties like the porcheddu, local tuna, carasau bread, Mirto liquors and even anemonas, besides of course the Sardinia-specific pasta, wine, cheese (try ricotta!), and sweets.

Sardinia is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a relaxing summer holiday. Not because it is an island, nor is it small. In fact, the local office tourism advertised it as the “Endless Island” a couple of years ago. It is so large, that even in the most visited times of the year it remains relatively calm.

The island’s vastness is reflected in the varied landscapes and geographies of its beaches. Here are just a few highlights, picked from all around its coast:
— Is Aruttas: A long and narrow beach with coarse sand of the size of rice grains -don’t take any or you’ll be heavily fined!
— Mari Ermi: Another beach with coarse sand, and turquoise waters.
— La Pelosa: A very beautiful and popular beach, with fine white sand and crystal clear waters... like an immense, shallow swimming pool.
— Santa Margherita di Pula: A long beach with soft sand, surrounded by cliffs.
— Chia: A large beach with white sand and dunes, surrounded by nature on the sides.
— Porto Ferro: A wild and natural beach, with red cliffs and clear waters.
— Tuerredda: A small and intimate beach, with turquoise waters.
— La Cinta: A very long beach with white sand and turquoise waters, among the best in the vicinity of Olbia which you can reach easily by plane.
— Capo Coda Cavallo: A beach with fine white sand and clear blue waters.
— Cala Mariolu: A secluded beach, only accessible by boat, with clear blue waters.
— Cala Biriola: A secluded beach, only accessible by boat, with clear blue waters.
— Cala Goloritze: A secluded beach with white pebbles, clear turquoise waters, and a stunning geological landscape, only accessible after 1 hour of hiking which makes it less populated than others -but don’t forget to get your ticket online, because the number of visitors is limited to preserve its natural look.
The photos in this article were shot mostly in the Gulf of Orosei, where the last “Cale” (plural for “Cala”) of the above list is located. I won’t give you more details, just enjoy!
Want to move there?
And yes, as you read in the title the region (akin to a state) of Sardinia is offering up to 15,000 euros for people to settle in (lots of conditions, see the article and official release by the government of Sardinia, the latter in Italian):
The opportunity should be particularly enticing for digital nomads who want to stay around Europe but live in a cheaper place and especially get a lot of sun!
