A Brother’s Lament
An elegy
While I am able, I will see the sea — A silver sliver of a knife resting on a table atop a shredded sheath of trees.
While I can see, I’ll watch a paisley cloud, embroidered by a breeze, weave the light of life into a solferino shroud.
While I can feel, I will sense the stars sending tremorous phantoms bearing pictures of the past, totems of time.
While I can hear, Trees murmur, grass grieves. Leaves listen, The sea seethes.
The earth trembles, startling the stars, arresting the rain. Clouds part, their radiant rays Proclaim my pain.
