A Brave Person Speaks The Truth — And Stands By It:
The Best of Speech is that which is True and Beneficial —A Muslim’s speech should always be clear and straight. Righteousness means being straightforward.
We need to formulate the thought, and often times people think they can win a point by making it have a double meaning, so they can’t be wrong. It is powerful to be straightforward. What we formulate in our thoughts should be clear — courage in Islam refers to steadfastness in the heart at the time of danger.
“The best speech is that which is concise and to the point.” (Sahih al-Bukhari) The Muslim should strive to speak the truth and be honest, and his words should be useful, whether they are about worldly matters or matters of the hereafter.
He should not speak too much about that which is of no benefit and serves no purpose, and he should avoid speaking on the basis of speculation or speaking of that of which he has no knowledge, because this is what it means to be truthful and honest.
Allah(swt) had instructed His believing slaves to be with those who are true (in word and deed), as He says: “O you who believe! Fear Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)”.(At-Tawbah 9:119).
Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Be true and adhere to Truthfulness and be with those who are true, and you will be saved From doom and be granted relief From hardship.
Al-Nawwas ibn Sam’an reported: The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Allah strikes a parable of the straight path. On either side of the path are walls with open doors, over which are hanging curtains.
Upon the gate of the path is a caller, saying, ‘O people! Enter the straight path altogether and do not divert to the side!’ A caller is placed above the path, and when anyone intends to open those doors in the slightest, he says, ‘Woe to you! Do not open it or else you will enter it!’
The path is Islam, the curtains are the limits of Allah, and the open doors are the prohibitions of Allah. The caller at the head of the path is the Book of Allah, and the caller above the path is an admonition from Allah in the heart of every Muslim.” (Source: Musnad Aḥmad 17634) )
So,the point is that a person with a brave and strong personality always speaks the truth and supports the truth. Islam teaches us that everything should be done for the pleasure of our Lord, and the person who lives with such a thought cannot be a coward or a deceiver.
