A Bold Introduction: My Professional Identity.
(Exploring Motherhood and Professional Growth)

It was a windy morning in October.
I left my 3-month-old girl at home with her dad to join the first day of my skill development course.
I entered the classroom filled with people from diverse backgrounds.
But all had one common trait in their eyes – the thirst for acquiring knowledge.
The teacher appeared with a cordial smile.
The class started with a warm welcoming speech. Soon, everyone began introducing themselves, highlighting their professional status, strengths, and interests.
I listened attentively, fully engaged until my turn neared.
However, as I lost myself in thoughts of my baby’s loving face, her cries seemed to echo in my head. When my turn finally arrived, the teacher requested a brief introduction.
Teacher: “Please introduce yourself shortly.”
Me: “Sure! I am Zahera. Currently, I am enjoying motherhood.”
Teacher: “Nice to know that, but do you have any professional status? Please feel free to add.”
(I paused briefly. All eyes were on me, and a fellow student whispered to speak up about my profession.)
Teacher: “Zahera, would you mind adding some more?”
Me (loudly): “Hi everyone! This is Zahera Noor, and I am from London. Currently, I am enjoying motherhood, and I firmly believe that Motherhood is itself a profession. Thank you!”
Everyone, including the teacher, stood up and applauded.
Each clap added new layers of confidence to my heart!
