A Birthday Haiku

Celebrating a friend and answering a challenge

To honor one of my favorite Medium. writers, C Hardin Hansen on his special day and acknowledging my new Medium friend Geetika Sethi who tagged me to come up with a tanka or haiku using the word dry or a derivative, my sad but heartfelt offering.

Yay its your Birthday

Pome would be 50 times dope

without the word dry

Dear Charles,

Lots of “Old Lady Energy” on the writers group Zoom call giving thanks for you this morning.

Signed, an “old” fan, Helen

In the spirit of Medium challenges, I am tagging a few friends and quoting here Geetika’s own words giving the inspiration for this challenge. I trust all of my tags can do a better job of haiku-ing or tanka-ing than I can, but none more happy for the inspiration.

The above is in response to Brett Christensen PROMPT: Write a haiku or tanka using the prompt word “dry” (or a derivative). And I wish to play this Prompt forward with a twist, calling out to all those tagged (tagging differently today — I shall just click the at symbol and the first 2 drop-down lists are tagged for this challenge) and all those who stop by to read. So I await contributions in Haiku/ Tanka or any form of poetry or a100 word quick story — especially for those who don’t write poetry like our Dr Mehmet Yildiz, Peggy Gillespie Hazelwood, Sherry McGuinn, James Knight, Kristi Keller, Jan M Flynn, Marguerite Floyd, Carol Piasente, Rasheed Hooda, Ann Litts, Agnes Louis, Melissa Gouty, Donna Harris Kraus Murray, P.G. Barnett

And any other friend and writer who’d like to participate.
