A Beautiful Rainy Day

It is raining today, and I felt compelled to write about it. I am attempting to write and share with you all the world I observe through my spectacles on a rainy day!
I just love rainy days, especially if it rains on weekend afternoons. All I can think about is sitting by the bay window of my house with a nice suspense/thriller book and a cup of coffee. That is me in a nutshell.
I enjoy novels by Agatha Christie, David Baldacci, James Patterson, Sidney Sheldon, and Stephen King. It is an amazing feeling when the author transports you to the scene of the crime or the moment right before it happens. It is like I am “Harry Potter” in “The Chamber of Secrets,” being transported through a book to witness something significant. I feel like the third person in the author’s world, living every moment that is been so beautifully captured in their work. And then, there is the thunder, lightning, and rain outside my window.
I like to put on some 70’s or 80’s music at a low volume, or maybe some smooth jazz or instrumental jazz. Just writing about it gives me goosebumps!!
As I rub the fogged window, I notice lush greenery all around. Trees sway gently in the breeze, their leaves and flowers shimmering with droplets like precious jewels. I just spotted a couple huddled together under shared umbrellas, finding solace in each other’s embrace as they strolled through our residential area. How romantic! I also saw a kid riding his bicycle alongside, holding his dog’s leash and getting wet in the rain, with his parents walking behind him under an umbrella. It feels so soothing, completely tranquil away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
In the afternoon, around 4:00 PM, I decided to have a nice warm cup of coffee, so I headed out to a cafe. Since the cafe is within walking distance, I opted to leave my car behind. The beauty of enjoying the rain is walking with your umbrella. The air is alive with the sound of raindrops pattering against umbrellas, and the nice cold wind gives you chills. I noticed squirrels digging in the ground for food in the rain. On my way out, I gave them one or two peanuts. I also saw rabbits playing with each other. It was a delightful sight to watch.
When I reached the cafe, I noticed the scent of freshly brewed coffee along with the aroma of freshly baked pastries. There is just something comforting about sitting by a foggy window, watching the world go by outside while you sip a warm cup of cappuccino. I ordered a multigrain avocado sandwich to go with it. There were people at the cafe: some were working on their laptops, some were with their respective partners, and some were with their friends. Sitting at the cafe and doing absolutely nothing is a distinguishable feeling. I just sat by the window looking out and enjoying the atmosphere while savoring my coffee and sandwich. It was an awesome feeling.
In conclusion, this is the type of day that offers the opportunity to unwind and find solace in the simple pleasures that bring moments of joy. Such days are vital for revitalizing oneself both mentally and physically, ensuring readiness to any challenges that may arise in the week ahead.
