98X Returns and More Is Possible in Medium
How much money can you actually make writing articles on Medium?

You never know when life will smile at you. You never know how your article will become viral and wipe off your painful times. When you refresh the stats page once you wake up, you never know when you will scream by seeing an unimaginable spike on your numbers.
Everything is possible in Medium. Following is my Return of Investment in Medium:
50USD investment that has returned as 4905USD in a year
It is not about bragging. This sharing is to inspire my fellow writers who want to earn good money on this platform — Medium.com.
I started my journey in Medium back in August 2019. It has been an incredible twelve-month journey for me in Medium and yielded a 98x return of investment from Medium. I paid 50usd as yearly subscription fees for MPP(Medium Partner Program) and received 4905usd as of July 31st, 2020, which is around 98X return.
In this story, I am going to share a few tips based on my experience with this platform. I learned these tips over the year from various writers in this fantastic platform.
If you are an expert writer in Medium, please ignore this, but if you are a new writer in Medium like me, I hope these tips would be beneficial before hitting that publish button.
#1 Title
It may sound cliche, but it’s 100% true. If you can give a great title to your story, it brings more readers. More readers = More Reading Time = More Income, it is that simple here on Medium.
As a writer, we have the urge to publish our story to the world, and our focus is on the content of the story. However, the title also holds equal importance as our story. Always spend more time on the title. The best practice is, write down at least ten titles and choose the best one out of it.
I always check two things in a title:
a) Does it convey the right message to the reader?
b) Does the title emotionally(at least to some extent) connect to the reader?
You can use title analyzers too, and the best one is coschedule.
Take Away: Write down at least ten titles and choose the best one
#2 First Paragraph
If you present something to the readers that do not add value to their life in any way, then there is an excellent chance that they will skip your writing. That is why I firmly believe always the first few lines of your story should hook in the readers.
It is as important as the title of the story. It is where the reader decides whether to continue reading or not. If you begin your story with a boring first line, you are blocking your reader there itself.
Take Away: Always, write a killer first paragraph
#3 Value
Every one of us expects some value in what we spent time; it could be anything, if we watch a movie, we do expect it should entertain us, the same way every reader expects some value from what he/she reads. If a reader reads about a fitness article, she expects in some or the other way that the article should add value to her life.
As a writer, before you publish a story, ask the following question to yourself:
“If I am a reader for this story, how does it add any value to me?”
If you feel your story adds value to the reader, then click that publish button, or else the better place for the story is in a draft box and give it some more time, next day or next week you will be able to sharpen the story and provide an all-new life to it. Patience is the key here.
Take Away: Ask yourself the above question every time before you publish an article.
#4 Personal Touch

It is easy to advise anyone on this planet, but nobody likes advice. Advice is like tablets. If you give a tablet to a kid, they will run away, even if they are aware that pills can cure the illness.
However, if you provide a bar of chocolate for a reward, they will eat the tablet and get the chocolate from you. When you try to advise from your article, always blend it with your personal experience, it will reach more readers, and they will be able to resonate with their experience and follow your advice. Instead, if you give blunt information, they will skip it and go for a better-written article.
Take Away: Always share your personal experience along with your article; it reaches a broader audience.
#5 Consistency in publishing
It is the toughest part, as I had to publish consistently to get more views and reads. However, it is essential to be on the earning side if we want to. If you are unable to publish daily, try to post at least 3 to 4 stories per week. If you can publish four stories a week, quickly, you will get into the eyes of readers, and you will get more traction.
Another two important things are:
- Write for publications. If your story is published in a publication, it will be seen by many eyes and high chances for getting more readers.
- Curation
Take Away: Write More, Earn More
Conclusion
I had been writing for years; however, earning from writing was never easy until I joined the MPP program in Medium. Last month(July 2020) one-story earned more than 5K, and one writer has made 30k in a single month.
If they can, why can’t we?
Everything is possible if we have a positive mindset and clear goals. Set your medium writing goals, and you will achieve it for sure.
If you are a new writer and struggling to earn from the Medium, I’d like to tell you one thing aloud:
You can earn through Medium for sure. Keep Writing.
I wish you all the very best and a great life ahead.
