Why I Ate 30lbs of Bananas for a Week and Nothing Else
Have you ever heard about mono meals?

“What you eat that many bananas every day? Your sugar levels will be through the roof!” exclaimed my doctor. He reach forward over his stomach that was hanging well over his belt, to his desk to fill in a form so I could go get my blood test.
My explanation to him as to why this wouldn’t be the case immediately fell on deaf ears.
I use to eat 8 bananas for breakfast each morning for a couple of years.
When I returned 2 weeks later to get the blood test results, unsurprisingly to me but not to him, my sugar levels were indeed in the middle of the acceptable range.
Bananas I love them. I love the sugary taste. I love their color. I love their texture.
But that’s not why I ate 30lbs in a week of only bananas.
Food combining examines the effects on the body when you eat different types of food during one meal.
Eating foods that are not compatible with each other creates a gas that then bloats your gut and can create other complications.
What is mono eating?
Mono eating is consuming one food only (sometimes 2) to the exclusion of any other food type during a meal.
Mono eating can be an incredible technique for recovery from certain health issues. It has several applications, most notably for gut healing and food allergies.

Viruses and harmful bacteria embed themselves in the lining of the intestinal tract. Pathogens survive and thrive on certain foods like eggs, dairy, and gluten. This in turn inflames the lining of your intestine. Which can create any one of a number of problems such as excess gas, digestive pains, or excess gas.
Mono meals with the correct foods stave the pathogens which eventually kills them off.
What foods can be used for a mono meal?
· Banana
· Papaya
· Steamed potatoes
· Steamed peas
· Steamed squash
· Steamed green beans
· Brussels sprouts
Any one of these can be combined with lettuce. But for me, I just prefer bananas.
What is involved in doing a mono meal series?
#1: Time
The mono meal needs to be done over 7 days as a minimum.
#2: Prepare Food
The vegetables that are listed above can be either eaten whole or mashed. If you mash them up that will allow them to be more easily digested.
Similarly, with bananas, you should blend the bananas as they are easy to eat and digest. Also, if possible, don’t add any water as this dilutes the hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Hydrochloric is what breaks down the food in the stomach.
#3: Drink Water
Start the day off with drinking water until my stomach feels some pressure. Normally about ½ a gallon of water. You need to drink water within a few minutes of waking up. Why? This will clean out the stomach and allow you to pass a motion.
Remember don’t drink water while you are consuming your meal for the above reason.
During the day, drink ½ a gallon of water during winter. And drink ½ to 1 gallon of water during summer. This assists with throwing out the toxins and rehydrates your body.
#5: Transition
When coming off the mono meal for the week you will need to transition the next day. Don’t jump straight back into eating radical fats, that are in foods like chocolate, oil, and avocados.
Have a smooth transition so focus on eating fruits and vegetables. Ideally for breakfast have green juice or orange juice. Alternatives include teas such as Hibiscus, lemon balm, or Chaga.
#6: Planning
To ensure you will be able to carry this out for the week you will need to plan. For example, if you decided on eating bananas:
Quantity. Ensure that you have enough.
Quality. A mixture of green and yellow bananas. If they are all yellow by end of the week the bananas would have ripened too much. Ideally, you want your bananas to be yellow with a few brown dots.
Storage. They are stored in an appropriate place. In a place that is not too hot or cold, a moderate temperature is best.
Organic. If possible, buy organic.
Weather. Best to if doing this for the first time to do during warm weather.
Transition. Purchase the tea or fruits juice that you will come off the mono meal with on the first day after the mono meal.
Health advice. Check with your doctor before starting
#7: Amount
Typically males and females will eat different amounts of bananas for the day. A woman may eat up to 8 bananas. While a man will consume 14 or more. I eat around 20 bananas a day. Eat what is right for you.
Meaning don’t let yourself get hungry. If you do, you will be tempted to break your commitment and eat another food. As such while you can eat a larger amount of bananas at your normal meal times, ensure that periodically between meals eat 2–3 bananas.
Additional Information
To increase the effectiveness of your 7-day mono meal add drinking lemon and celery juice in the mornings.
Squeeze a lemon in the water you drink in the morning. While lemon juice is acidic, when consumed in the body it changes to alkaline. Which promotes digestion amongst many other benefits.
Celery juice is effective in killing viruses and bacteria. The goodness from celery promotes neuron and brain function. Start with 4 ounces and work up to 32 ounces a day.
Concluding thoughts: while this may seem daunting to those that have not done this before, it is not. You will be surprised how easy and enjoyable it is. Preparation is the key to success and choosing a food you like to eat.
