9 Incredible Tools For Writers (Save Time, Grow More With Less Effort)
9 resources that make building a writing business easier

The right tools can explode your growth.
I’m so grateful I discovered these 9 tools. They’ve saved me a ton of time. I wouldn’t have grown to 4400 Medium followers and 700 newsletter subscribers without them. And they are all so easy to use.
Here’s the list:
1. Hemingway
Improve your writing with zero effort.
Hemingway is such a valuable tool. I know the theory of good writing but don’t always put it into practice. This is where Hemingway helps me.
It assesses your writing for the classic mistakes:
- adverbs
- passive voice
- complex phrases
- hard to read sentences
It highlights each in a different colour so you can quickly change it. Here’s Hemingway’s view of this draft:

Super easy to use and it’s free.
2. Grammarly
Get rid of spelling errors with Grammarly.
Another free essential. Download it. Click the icon. A list of errors appears with the correct replacement.

Unbelievable this tool is free.
3. Senja
Social proof is key for any writer who wants to grow.
Senja collects testimonials about your product, service, or newsletter. And gives you options for how you want this displayed.
Send a link to your users. And with one click you’ll have an image like this.

Then post it on your social pages or add it to your landing page.
Powerful stuff and it’s free.
4. Hypefury
Hypefury is for those on X (skip to the next one if you don’t tweet).
This is a powerful tool to fuel your X growth. It has so many helpful features. My favourite are:
Schedule
Decide when you want to post (say 8am/1pm/5pm each day). Then whenever you create a post it goes into the next available slot.
Reuse old posts
When you create a post Hypefury suggests an old one you could reuse. Saves tons of time (and no one remembers your post from 4 months ago!)
Autoplug
You can set up comments that automatically appear under your posts that do well. Use this to promote your newsletter, course, or blog.
Auto DM
This is so useful when launching a giveaway.
Ask people to comment on a certain word and that word triggers a DM from Hypefury.

So when I launched my free email course Long Form Mastery, people had to comment ‘master’ to get it. This sends your post viral because you get so many comments. But instead of manually sending the course link — Hypefury does it for you.
Amazingly helpful.
5. Coschedule headline analyzer
This clever tool assesses your headline. Gives you a score and suggests areas for improvement. Key areas it looks at:
- length
- power words
- emotional words
- uncommon words
Some of the suggestions can be a little mechanical so make sure they work for your readers. But when your inspiration is running dry this is a great tool to get your creative juices flowing.
Another great free tool.
6. Convertkit
Don’t rely on social media. An email list protects you from algorithm changes. And is the most effective way to sell products or services.
Convertkit is my tool of choice. It’s cheaper than Beehiiv and has more features than Substack.
How I used it in 2023:
- sent out a weekly newsletter
- set up a welcome email for new subscribers
- set up tags so I know when people click links
- designed a landing page for my coaching service
- designed a landing page for my free email course
- launched an email course with 5 automated emails
- got recommended to other newsletters through the creator network.
Super easy to use with so many incredible features.
7. Adazig
Having a mock-up of a course or product makes a professional impression.
Adazig transforms your image into a book cover. Upload an image and you’ll receive something like this:

Quick and easy to use. (and it’s free).
8. Clippings
This is a brilliant tool for Kindle users.
I read books on Kindle. Highlight content that interests me. Clipping uploads my highlights to Evernote. I can then search them when stuck for ideas. And paste them into my writing. No need to retype them.
Clippings is a gamechanger.
9. ChatGPT
Everyone raves about ChatGPT. But many struggle to know how it can help them.
My first attempts were disappointing. It’s a terrible writer. So boring! But I’ve discovered it’s a great brainstorming partner. I’ll explain how to use it to generate fresh ideas here. But the key is to experiment. And treat it like a conversation.
You don’t have to accept everything it says but let it spark your creativity.
Let me know in the comments what tools you’d recommend. I’m always looking for new ones to save me time.
