Introducing Guest Editor — Toni Greathouse

Let the festivities begin

From the first moment I talked with Toni Greathouse, it was like we were already friends who hadn’t talked in a while. It felt like we were just catching up about life.

I met Toni initially through her writings, which is likely why I felt like I knew her before we talked. She wrote about various topics — all of which she addressed with an upbeat attitude. I knew I needed a person like that, a person with so much joy, in my orbit.

Toni has worked as a creative caricature artist for many years. She retired early and began thinking about what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. Finding Medium and other outlets stoked her creative passions, allowing her to thrive. After living such a vibrant life, it’s no wonder she wanted to share her story and the valuable lessons she has learned along the way. We are lucky to learn from her wisdom.

Toni has posted an article (link is just below this paragraph) explaining more about herself, her qualifications, and other fascinating tidbits — so I don’t want to reveal too much here. All I can say is that you will appreciate and enjoy her presence and guidance here at Everything Fun. She is the epitome of enthusiasm and fun, all packaged into one spirited body.

What will Toni bring to Everything Fun?

The reason that I asked Toni to join our fun-loving community is that she has great vision. She is brimming with ideas and has the motivation and clarity to fulfill those visions. We are still in the beginning phases of planning, but we will implement many of her suggestions over the next 30–60 days.

That dynamo of a woman knows how to get things done — and how to get them done well. She’s the sort of person who gets a great idea and begins working on it immediately. I don’t think she’s ever understood the meaning of procrastination, and I am so thankful. I sense that I have much to learn from her.

Our new roles

While Toni and I are both editors, we see ourselves in different lights. Toni wants to spend more time connecting with readers and building a more profound sense of community. She also wants to encourage more consistency from writers. On the other hand, I will be focusing on editing a bit more closely to make sure articles convey messages clearly and without errors. I also will be working on trying to promote articles in new ways.

We don’t have everything figured out perfectly yet, but we’ll inch toward progress daily. If you have suggestions for us, please feel free to share them via the comments, a private note to one of us, or email at [email protected]. We are really interested in what you have to say!

We greatly appreciate the help of Spyder Darling and Patrick Parker for their valuable writing and editorial contributions to our fun pub. Spyder has been spending time acting — and I’m sure he’ll tell you all about it when he has some time (he’s been up to some very cool things!).
