8 Ways with Actionable Plans to Create an Abundance Mindset
And to thrive in everything you do

Ever wondered why that last bencher kid in your class turned out to be a super successful entrepreneur while that topper from your class is struggling to make ends meet.
You would come across umpteen examples around us where we know the people are not that sharp or intelligent but are having a life filled with abundance.
Well, the abundance in life has got more to do with the mindset than the skill set you have.
And it’s something that each one of us can cultivate and make our lives grow exponentially.
Like anything creation of an abundance mindset is a process and follows certain principles for it to prosper.
Watch your thoughts
An individual on average thinks 70000 thoughts a day.
As our surroundings are mostly filled with negative news, gossiping and all such stuff, our minds are also filled with thoughts related to such negativity.
Watching your thoughts, filling your mind with positive stuff by reading, watching, listening to such positive content is the first step to change the way you think.
But that will simply not change your thinking.
You need to keep the focus on what is going on in your mind.
Is that easy?
I bet not.
It’s a pretty exhausting process which I can say from my personal experience, but, it’s totally worth it.
Action: Keep a journal to write down the thoughts you have or the actions you take to focus on the direction your life is moving. Filter the sources which are influencing your thoughts and slowly work on changing the way you think.
Practice Gratitude
This universe works on the principle of what goes around comes around.
If you always keep cribbing about everything in your life, you will get more chances to crib.
But if you work on the principle of thanking for the good things in your life, you will start noticing the change in the way your life works.
According to Oprah Winfrey, “If you look at what you have in life, you will always have more. If you look at what you don’t have in life, you will never have enough.”
An abundance mindset is all about being grateful for what it has because it knows the importance of what it has.
Action: Keep a gratitude journal. Write the things you are grateful for in your life on a daily basis. Start with 5 and then gradually increase it to 10 things to be grateful for. Look for simple things like having a bed to make, clothes to wear, or a chance to have another day in your life.
Believe that sky is the limit
When you focus on a lack of opportunities, your contracted vision might cost you another opportunity lying next to you.
A person with an abundance mindset believes that there are enough opportunities, enough money, enough wealth in the world for everybody.
They don’t believe in the zero-sum game. They believe in a game where everyone is a winner.
Action: Make yourself peaceful and calm by doing regular meditation. A clear and calm mind can bring way more abundance than a cluttered one will ever do.
Focus on your strength
All of us have been trained to work on our weaknesses to improve our lives. Rather, focusing on your strengths can give you a better understanding of yourself. By leveraging your strengths more you can cover the weaknesses you have.
In the book Now, Discover Your Strengths by Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton, they advocate that individuals should not focus on developing their weak areas.
Buckingham and Clifton’s thesis is based on two assumptions:
a) An individual’s talents are unique and, it is the individual who should develop inherent talents into strengths
b) Each person’s greatest scope for growth is in the areas of his or her strength.
So, that means your strengths are unique to you and whatever efforts you will make to cover your weakness, you will need lesser effort to hone the strength you have.
Action: Write down the weaknesses and strengths you have and zeroed on the strengths you are going to work on. Make daily progress and before you know it, your strength would have lifted you up.
Watch your words
Watch what you are speaking to others, to yourself, or the universe.
Your words can tell you whether you believe in scarcity or abundance.
Action: Listen to yourself when speaking to yourself, make yourself accountable to others, make them mention your mistakes to you, and eliminate these words from your system. It’s a process but over a period you will automatically, start using the words which resonate with abundance.
Always be a beginner
An abundance mindset always comes from a point of view of never thinking of yourself as a master on anything. You always believe that there is more to learn and there are more things to learn, more skills to have in your lifetime.
Action: Learn a new hobby, a new skill that makes you uncomfortable or work on the skill you think you have mastered, you will realize there is more to it.
Build affirmations
Affirmations are words that you say to yourself, to let them sink in your subconscious mind. But these words will only work when they come from a place of belief that may not come on the very first day, not even in the initial few days either.
But as you work on yourself and make your own affirmations, that belief will grow and so will your mindset.
Action: Write down the beliefs you have regarding your life from the scarcity mindset and then write down the reality you want in your life. Use them as affirmations in your daily life.
Donate and volunteer
A person with an abundance mindset believes that she always has enough to give.
Giving can be in the form of money or a service in any form which will make others’ lives easier.
Giving not only helps you grow emotionally, but it also heals you spiritually.
Action: List the places where you can donate on a weekly or monthly basis. You can also volunteer to help in your local area.
