8 Victoria’s Secret Ridiculous Rules for Employees
Surprisingly ludicrous rules you didn’t they have to follow.
Victoria’s Secret, often considered the top brand in lingerie clothing, started from a simple idea of men’s embarrassment while purchasing lingerie to becoming a giant in the fashion industry.
With its billions of dollars in sales from 1000’s stores worldwide, all these stores needed great number of employees — the side we are going to try to learn about a bit more.
All of us have been to a retail store, whether as a customer or as a worker in some cases, but what we don’t know are the rules being followed by the staff on duty.
Most companies or organizations have rules and regulations that the employees must follow, and the employees are trained accordingly, but Victoria’s Secret is a bit different.
The employees must follow all the rules and regulations, but with minimal training and regulations, that might be absurd to some of us. Let’s dig in:
1. Complement, even if its a false one
Honest opinion matters a lot for most of us. It is much appreciated by the concerned person if they have been guided correctly, but not in the case of Victoria’s Secret employees.
The employees of Victoria’s Secret must satisfy the customer if asked for an opinion, even if they have to lie to do that — their loyal customers often question this kind of honesty deficit.
2. Minimal training, workers on their own

Victoria’s Secret spends a lot of time and money designing and making their clothing products, but not much is invested in their employees’ training.
Employees of Victoria’s Secret are provided with some basic information, including some videos. This information is considered insufficient by the employees who run the floor daily.
The employees at Victoria’s Secret rely on their work ethics and experience, believing practice makes perfect.
3. Harassment, complaints are not entertained

Harassment has always been a significant concern for Victoria’s Secret employees. It was told to the employee to forget about it and keep doing their job.
Many of the former employees have heir say on this — most of them are not happy with how the management deals with harassment issues.
4. Employees experience pressure

Like any other company, Victoria’s Secret assign sales targets to their employees, which they have to achieve in a certain period.
Managers are always on the lookout for any staff member who is not performing up to the mark, and these employees are usually not given any second chances. If you are being a liability, then you are dismissed.
The employees often find themselves working during their break time to achieve their targets, and this practice is not encouraged or discouraged by the company. They try to be neutral because the labor law could be a problem.
5. Returned, well sell it

Victoria’s Secret has a bizarre policy for the returned item. The policy states that if anything has a tag on it and is returned in the same manner as it was sold, it can be put back on the rack for resale.
This policy is being revised after complaints regarding sullied products sold to customers. It is still recommended for the consumer to wash the product before use.
6. Shoplifting is a crime but let the security deal with it
Shoplifting is a crime that takes place everywhere in the world — basic measures to control it are applied by retail stores worldwide.
The policy followed by the employees of Victoria’s Secret is a bit different: the employees are not allowed to stop anyone who is caught stealing or shoplifting. What? The employees leave it to the security to check.
Victoria’s Secret has this policy because they don’t want to be a part of any controversy and avoid fines or prosecutions.
7.Changing room for changing only

Victoria’s Secret a brand is known for its seductive fashion wear. It gets hard for some people to control their desires when shopping at Victoria’s Secret — to cater this, the store has a one-person per room policy.
Often the situation slips out of hand, and gets worse when any couple break the rule. In such cases, the employees are required to inform the security, without taking any step — this could worsen the situation.
8. Tear down the pictures used for ads

All over the world, pictures are used for product advertisement. The same goes for Victoria’s Secrets, but the pictures used for Victoria Secrets advertising are rather tempting.
For this reason, the company has a policy that encourages its employees to tear apart the image used for advertising or in their window gallery before being disposed of.
It may seem a bit odd now, but the company has a valid reason to support this act.
Victoria’s Secret doesn’t want its models’ pictures to be used for any illicit activity or scandal that will spoil the company’s image.
Final Words:
Being a part of a multinational company doesn’t necessarily mean that every practice of theirs will be well thought out — many small bits and bobs needs attention which often get ignored.
Employees working in Victoria’s Secret or any other company must be well guided to handle any situation, and companies must be much more forgiving when legislating laws for their companies.
