8 Tips on How To Become More Unproductive

Tricks to become a master in procrastination

When it comes to procrastination, I’m a master. Do you want to know some tricks?

1. Say yes to everything

There will be no time or energy left for creative work when you say yes to everything. However, you’ll get a gold medal for being a nice person (if someone notices your effort).

2. To-do-list

Keeping an endless to-do list increases the chances of you giving up before you even begin. Classic.

3. Check the phone

Maybe you’ve missed something super important? Must be checked every half hour.

4. Binge-watch series

Watching tv series is perfect relaxation. And we deserve to relax, right? As most people know, it’s hard to watch just one episode … Damn cliffhangers.

5. Breaks

Take long and good breaks, preferably before you get started. Drink coffee and read a book.

6. Doubt

Doubt everything. Doubt yourself and your abilities. Self-doubt is the best friend of unproductivity.

Are you sure you can write? Do you think someone will read it?

— Doubt

7. Housework

Housework can save you if you almost get started on some productive work. And when you have done laundry and vacuumed, you deserve a break. Of course.

8. Do something else

This trick is in the same category as housework but still deserves a spot. When you decide to write, read instead. If you want to find background material, look at stocks instead. You do something, but not what you are supposed to. This way, you may be able to procrastinate without feeling embarrassed.
