Opinions

  • Resisting or fighting against a situation can inadvertently strengthen it, while acceptance and understanding can lead to resolution.
  • Taking action, even if it results in mistakes, is preferable to inaction as it leads to learning and progress.
  • Worry is unproductive and should be managed by allocating specific times for reflection rather than allowing it to consume one's thoughts.
  • Personal struggles are inevitable and define one's success; embracing a growth mindset is crucial for overcoming them.
  • Habits and actions continuously shape one's identity, with each action serving as a 'vote' for the person one aspires to become.
  • Mental limitations are self-imposed, and challenging negative thoughts is key to achieving success.
  • The ability to persist through failures without discouragement is a defining characteristic of successful individuals.

Motivational quotes are great, some can really get you thinking about your life.

They can often start a fire in you to make a change and stop blaming others for where you are in life. When you really connect with a quote, you cannot stop thinking about it.

Quotes will force you to take a hard look of where you are in life and where you want to go.

They can change your mind forever, for the best. Here are 8 quotes that might help you with that.

“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” ― Eckhart Tolle

Have you realise that unhappiness doesn’t often come from the actual situation.

It’s crazy that most of our suffering comes from our perceptions and thoughts about the unhappiness. When something happens in our lives, we take the interpretation of good or bad.

But most of the time, there is no such thing as good or bad. It’s never really that simple. Life is not black and white, there are often grey areas.

Without us there is no good or bad, there is only perception of the reality we live in.

We make interpretations of situations, without us, there is the only perception of what happened.

“Whatever you fight, you strengthen, and what you resist, persists.” ― Eckhart Tolle

It’s absolutely fascinating to realise that when you resist something, it often comes back.

But when you choose to fight whatever you are going through, it strengthens you. Like when you fear your struggles, your struggles consume you. When you face your struggles, you overcome them.

But it’s never as simple as facing your fears head-on, you have to change how you think. If you are resisting something, you need to go deep to understand why you feel that way, what is holding you back. Because it’s going to keep coming back until you do something about it.

Always face whatever you are going through, after all, it’s only going to make you better when you look back.

“Any action is often better than no action, especially if you have been stuck in an unhappy situation for a long time. If it is a mistake, at least you learn something, in which case it’s no longer a mistake. If you remain stuck, you learn nothing.” ― Eckhart Tolle

Often when we are stuck in a pattern or a situation where we are unhappy, it’s difficult to do anything.

We think we have no choice over the situation, but the reality is you always have a choice. You get to decide how you respond to situations, good or bad. You may or may not be responsible for what happened to you in your past but you are 100% responsible for how you respond.

If you are in an that you are unhappy with, take the necessary steps to find a different job.

Any action is often better than no action. If it’s a mistake, at least you can learn something, in which case it’s no longer a mistake. If you remain stuck, you learn nothing.

“Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose” ― Eckhart Tolle

It took me a while to learn that worrying does nothing but keep you busy doing nothing.

Like the old saying, worrying is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere. It’s really your mind playing tricks on you, what’s the point of worry if you cannot change something.

To overcome worrying, create a “worry period.” Choose a set time and place for worrying. It should be the same every day. During your worrying period, you’re allowed to worry about whatever’s on your mind. The rest of the day, however, is a worry-free zone.

Let go of worrying about the things you cannot control, you can only control your thoughts and actions.

“This is the most simple and basic component of life: our struggles determine our successes.” ― Mark Manson

What are you willing to struggle for? In life, the struggle is guaranteed but the success is not.

It’s really up you to make the most out of your life, there’s no one coming to save you. Every day is an opportunity to work to get closer to where you want to be.

To overcome the struggles in life you need to have a growth mindset. You have to eliminate the fixed-mindset.

Success is not merely determined by your talent, you can have all the talent in the world but without a good work ethic, it’ll mean nothing. Just look at anyone that you admire, do you think they would be where they are without the ability to work hard for a long time.

“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.” ― James Clear

Your habits are part of your identity, you cannot change them overnight. You have to build yourself.

Changing your beliefs is one of the best things you can do for yourself but it’s really difficult to do without changing your habits. Your habits are who you are.

Good habits can make rational sense, but if they conflict with your identity, you will fail to put them into action. You have to build up votes to convince yourself as you form a new habit by starting small.

The more votes you have, the more evidence you have to build your new identity.

“Your only limitation is the one which you set up in your own mind.” ― Napoleon Hill

Your mindset determines everything in your life, if you are weak mentally you’ll be easily influenced.

If you don’t believe me, ask anybody that has been successful at anything, you’ll learn that they are mentally sharp. They see problems as opportunities to become stronger, better and happier. There is no such thing that you cannot overcome.

Most people put limitations on themselves in life instead of challenging them and seeing what would happen.

The only limitation is the one which we set up in our own minds, challenge your negative thoughts and start believing in yourself. You can overcome anything you put your mind to.

“The capacity to surmount failure without being discouraged is the chief asset of every person who attains outstanding success in any calling.” ― Napoleon Hill

The ability to keep going after constant failures and rejections is a skill much needed for anything in life.

If you struggle with handling failure and rejection don’t worry you are not alone. To this day I still struggle with failing but I’ve learned failure is not final. You will experience failure and rejection no matter what you do or who you are.

However, how you respond will determine how successful you will become. I get rejected half the time when I send my articles to publications, it’s part of the process. I don’t take it personally, I see it as an opportunity to keep getting better with my writing.

Simply put, you are where you are and what you are because of your thoughts and deeds.
