8 Best Places To Visit in Switzerland

One of the most beautiful countries in the world

Switzerland is one of my favorite countries in the world. I’ve been there twice of which one time with my girlfriend in the summer of 2019. It’s a combination of class cities and beautiful nature.

Because there are so many beautiful places in Switzerland we’re going to take a look at the 8 best places to visit in the country.

1. Ticino Area

Ticino is one of the most southern parts of Switzerland.

In the area, there is a big Italian influence. When we were there in 2017, it was the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen.

We stayed in the little village of Bedretto.

It’s a very tourist area due to the beautiful mountains.

2. The Matterhorn

Some of you might know this name from the Disney Attraction — but this is really in Switzerland.

The Matterhorn is one of the largest mountains in Europe and Switzerland — also the most famous one. It’s a huge tourist attraction. It’s a pyramid-shaped mountain, so not accessible for climbing.

3. Lausanne and Lake Geneva — City of Lakes

Lausanne is one of the French cities in Switzerland — it’s the capital of Vaud.

One of the most beautiful sights in the area is the Lake of Geneva, on average it’s a very expensive city — just like the rest of the country.

Public transport is very well organized in this city as it has a metro system as one of the only cities in Switzerland.

4. Lauterbrunnen

Lauterbrunnen is a beautiful town in the area of Bern. There are a lot of waterfalls in the area.

The impressive view is loved by most tourists — you easily visit Lauterbrunnen by car or train since it has a train station. Close to Lauterbrunnen is the famous forest called the Grindelwald.

5. St. Moritz

In the east of Switzerland there lies a beautiful old village called Sankt Moritz.

It’s a very luxurious town that is famous for its churches.

6. Jungfraujoch

Jungfraujoch is the passage through the mountain called: Jungfrau.

It’s a perfect spot for hikers and travelers. I’d love to visit that once. There is a rack railway to bring you to the top, this project was finished in 1912.

This is the highest situated station in the world and while the train travels to its final destination you even pass an ice cave.

7. Saas-Fee

Saas-Fee is a very popular place to go on a holiday if you like winter sports. The town is situated on the southern border of Italy.

Although it’s a very small town, it’s very popular among tourists. You get a little Italian-Swiss crossover here in the south.

One bonus thing about Saas-Fee is that there are no cars allowed in the town. So safely walking around.

8. Zurich

Of course, the most famous of them all: Zürich.

I’ve been there in 2019 and it was fascinating. Lake Zürich was amazing — we swam in there near the Swans and tourist boats.

It has a very diverse set of buildings including lots of churches and many museums — the town’s public transport is so easy and well-organized that it takes you anywhere.

I would love to visit this again someday.
