Last summer, I wrote an article called, 5 Websites Where Rich People Literally Give Away Free Money. The story turned out to be a surprise hit, and has since gone viral.

My guess is that many people are struggling, which makes them quite interested in free money websites.

Therefore, I decided to write a follow-up article about 5 more websites where rich people give away free money. But before we get to the list, I want to go over a couple important points.

  1. Examples of monetary needs that qualify as legit funding requests.
  2. How to demonstrate financial need in order to qualify for free money from the wealthy and generous donors.

Legit Funding Requests

Oftentimes, it’s not enough to just ask rich people to give you money on the internet. Although I guess it never hurts to ask, because the worst thing they could say is “no.”

But to increase your odds of getting free money online, your requests typically needs to be for a legitimate and specific monetary need.

Here are some common examples of legit funding requests that rich people take seriously.

  1. Someone has incurred a significant amount of medical debt and they need help paying it off.
  2. A college graduate is struggling to repay their student loans.
  3. An illness or injury is making it hard for someone to make ends meet.
  4. Someone needs a new car — or maybe just help paying to repair it.
  5. Someone is having difficulty affording their rent or mortgage payment.
  6. A travel enthusiast is looking to get funding help for their dream vacation.
  7. A low-income worker would like some extra money to put towards their retirement savings (or lack thereof).
  8. A creator (e.g. artist, writer, musician) seeking support for their content creation efforts.
  9. A couple that needs money to adopt a child.
  10. An aspiring entrepreneur is seeking funding for their business idea.

Demonstrating Financial Need

Now, that you know the most common funding requests that wealthy, generous donors seriously consider, you need to know to demonstrate your worthiness for a donation.

Here is a short step-by-step guide on how to maximize your chances of getting a rich person to give you free money.

  1. Provide a brief introduction of yourself.
  2. Be upfront with why you need the money.
  3. Clearly explain what you plan to do with the money AND how it will help you improve your life.
  4. Don’t play the victim card or act entitled to money.
  5. Always end your message on a possible note and above all, be polite and gracious.

Read over your funding request a few times before sending it to catch any typos, as well as find ways to strengthen your case. Remember, you will often get a lot of rejections before you find that right wealthy donor who approves your request. So, just set your expectations accordingly.

5 Websites Where Rich People Give Away Free Money

With that being said, here are 5 more websites where wealthy donors give away free money for a wide range of funding requests.

Disclaimer: The following information is true and accurate to the best of my abilities.

1. JustGiving

JustGiving is an online fundraising platform where you can solicit donations to help you fund both personal needs and charitable causes. Examples of the former can include requesting financial aid for a medical expense or some other costly emergency.

Additionally, you can use JustGiving as a way to request monetary gifts in lieu of physical gifts for special events like birthdays, graduations, or even weddings.

2. Ko-Fi

Ko-Fi is a popular fundraising and financial support platform for creatives. In fact, I use the platform to help support my writing career with donations and eBook sales.

However, nearly any kind of creator can use Ko-Fi to help fund their creative endeavors. Additionally, you can use the platform to raise money for a cause.

For instance, I’ve seen people raise money to help pay for a car expense or medical bill. According to Ko-Fi, fundraising goals often lead to a higher success of getting people to donate to you.

3. Indiegogo

Indiegogo is a digital fundraising platform where innovators and entrepreneurs — especially those in the tech space — can get funding for their big ideas. In addition to tech innovation, creatives can also use the site to raise money to support their creative works.

Indiegogo works as a crowdfunding platform where those who support your “idea” get something in return for their generosity. For example, lets say you are funding the launch of a new tech product. You would set a funding goal, and then benefactors who help you reach that goal might get a free product before it’s released to the public.

4. Crowdfunder

Crowdfunder can be used to raise money for a wide range of projects and social causes, in addition to individual needs. According to the website, “you can crowdfund for pretty much anything,” if your funding request doesn’t fit into 1-of-6 common categories.

So, if you have a moving personal need like one of the examples given at the beginning of this article, then Crowdfunder could be a good platform to solicit money from rich and even just generous benefactors.

5. I’m Giving Away Free Money

According to the website I’m Giving Away Free Money, “all you have to do is ask.”

The site’s mysterious owner claims to be a wealthy benefactor giving away their money to complete strangers. In fact, they select random recipients to give free money to with no strings attached.

The site shares these 4 tips on how to request money.

  1. Be honest about what you need the money for.
  2. Be creative to catch the attention of the benefactor.
  3. Be patient while you wait for an answer.
  4. Be polite whether you are selected to receive a donation or not.

There is an accompanying blog with lots of posts about various recipients. So, I thought that I would include this site on my list.

It’s a nice idea to find a way to ask rich people for money on the internet. And it can even be a worthwhile endeavor. However, there are far better ways to make money online — especially on a more consistent basis.
