These include “money” which has over a million followers, and “cryptocurrency”. Of course, other relevant topics did qualify. So, instead of money, you can use finance, economics, or investing if appropriate.</p><p id="37dd">To clarify: if you become a Top Writer in “money” for example, your name will appear on the topic page. But it won’t show on your About page.</p><p id="91aa">I don’t know if this also gives you an idea about what topics Medium is interested in distributing. For example, these topics didn’t qualify: God, religion, spirituality and philosophy (how very secular of Medium!). Not all Medium tags (topics) are created equal. For many, many, topics on Medium, you will notice a list of “Top Writers”. We don’t know for sure how they are selected but they tend to be people who frequently write quality stories on a certain topic and get good engagement.

However, it looks like some of these topics are more special than others. When you become a Top Writer in those special topics, they automatically appear on your About page on Medium, as below.

I have spent the past few days manually looking through the most popular and most followed topics on Medium. I have been checking each of them to discover which ones are the “TRUE” Top Writer Topics. Here is the full list ranked from the most to least popular.
