70+ Stories And $1,256.48 Earnings In One Month — Here Are Some Tips For Newcomers To Succeed On Medium
Hard work always pays off
For me, Medium is the second home. This is where I spend hours daily. I try to write something unique and engaging for my readers and provide free guidance to my fellow writers. When I started my journey as a writer, I didn’t know how to make four or six figures. I used to check the success stories of top writers and tried to follow in the footsteps of Tim Denning. He is my favorite Medium writer. As far as I know, he has been publishing content from day 1 and has more than 2000 articles on his profile. This is all because of his hard work and dedication to the platform. If he and other top writers are earning huge amounts, they must have done something incredible.
I don’t call myself a good writer despite the fact that I earn four figures, have multiple tags of the top writer, and publish fresh content regularly. I feel that I need to learn a lot of new things, and I want to become an inspiration for aspiring writers. I don’t know when will this dream come true, but I am giving my best.
Aspiring Writers Can Make Big Money On Medium
I have published up to 75 stories the previous month and have earned $1,256.48. I didn’t publish my work with any major publication because I either self-publish or submit my work to the Illumination group. They are very good to work with. They publish my piece instantly and I don’t have to worry about rejections.
Here is the screenshot of my earnings and some important lessons for newcomers.

- Take your Medium journey seriously. This is the only way to earn hundreds to thousands of dollars.
- You cannot call yourself a perfectionist and shouldn’t argue with a publication editor. If you don’t admit your mistakes, you will never be able to build a strong profile.
- Stats are not something you should worry about. The same is the situation of earnings. Some days or weeks, you will make a lot of money, and the other days or weeks, you may earn pennies. However, this is not something that should keep you from showing up daily.
- You shouldn’t compare yourself with any senior or junior. Instead, you need to work silently and patiently.
- Please don’t expect good results for the first few weeks or months. It took me ten months to become a four-figure Medium writer. I didn’t look for magic. Instead, my focus was on providing valuable content to the target audience.
- Curation and top publications are overrated. They may or may not guarantee success.
- Quantity is as much important as quality.
- You should make a list of both popular and non-popular tags and keep using them in your stories over and over again. This is how one becomes a top writer in one or more categories.
- The first few articles you publish may get only a few views/reads, and there is nothing to worry about. The more you write, the better will be your earnings.
- Become a good reader before you expect great results. I spare time to read the content of other writers. This is an excellent way to know what works the best on Medium.
I have some big plans for the coming weeks. Hopefully, every new writer who wants to earn living writing on Medium is benefited from my work.
