70 Random Word Drabble Challenge 3/10
We challenge you to write a 100-word fiction story
This will be the last post in which all of our writers are tagged. Given the recent purge on Medium, with most of the violations being labeled as:
Misuse of Tags and Metadata: Inaccurately using tags or metadata to mislead readers or manipulate visibility can lead to content removal or account suspension.
Participation in Manipulative Campaigns: Being part of organized efforts to artificially inflate engagement or suppress certain viewpoints, known as brigading, can result in account suspension.
I don’t want to fall into their clutches. I have no idea if tagging the writers is a violation, and Medium doesn’t define it, nor did they share with our suspended writers what actions of theirs were suspicious.
So, if you rely on being tagged and haven’t subscribed to get my emails, you might want to consider subscribing, or every day, around 10 AM Central Time the new word will be at the top of the Fiction Shorts’ homepage.
New this week
We know it’s a limited amount of space, but make sure your story has a plot, a who, what, when, where, and why. And, it helps the reader connect if your character has a name. You want your readers to care. This is the challenge. The reader needs to get it all in 100 words.
The word is the word. The only changes allowed are an ‘-ed’ or ‘-ing’.
Not new, but you’re driving the editors nuts
And, trust me, they’re already on the cliff’s edge. Two of your tags must be Random and Drabble
ICYMI
If an editor leaves a note on your story, do not delete it. After the editor publishes your story, they will dismiss the note. If a different editor is looking at the story upon resubmission, they have no idea what the original editor requested.

Subject to the publisher (that’s me) messing up …
If you submit your story early, it will be scheduled to be published at 7:30 or 8:30 AM (CST) on the appropriate day. (The editors are in different time zones and I don’t think I can set one for the pub.)
If your story is for any word other than the current day, it will be published around 10 PM CST. Our goal is for people to be able to visit the publication and read all of the day’s stories together. That way we see the many different ways people approach the same word.
