7 Ways to Change Your Life (In 6 Months or Less)

Here are 7 steps you can take to be a changed person in 6 months or less.
1. Set goals
You need to know where you’re going.
Write down exactly where you want to be 5 years from now.
- Where will you live?
- What will you do for work?
- What will your average day look like?
- Will you be married? Have kids?
- How much money will you have?
Create a clear picture of where you want to be. Then, extract specific goals from this. Try to categorize these.
You can use:
- Health
- Wealth
- Relationships
I like to use:
- Love
- Growth
- Purpose
You could just do personal and professional. Use whatever makes sense for you.
Write these down somewhere you’ll see them often so they always stay top of mind.
2. Create a game plan
Now that you have goals, create a game plan for how you’ll get there.
My favorite way to do this is with a ‘Daily List’.
Take the goals you set above and break these down into what you need to do on a quarterly, monthly, weekly, and then daily basis. This daily basis part will give you an exact list of things you need to do every single day to be on track to reach your goals.
This is your game plan. Stick to it.
3. Go to the gym
If you haven’t already, sign up for a gym membership.
You can get some pretty good deals, and the investment will be repaid in the extra energy, boosted mood, and improved productivity that comes from working out regularly.
Aim to go to the gym 3 times each week. Find a training program you like and stick with it.
Find a buddy you can go with if possible. It’s always easier with an accountability partner.
Prioritizing your health is one of the easiest ways to change your life.
It’s the gateway habit — once you start improving your health, all your other good habits naturally fall into place.
4. Read a book
We don’t read enough.
With TikTok, emails, Netflix, and all the other cheap sources of dopamine, most people haven’t picked up a book in years.
Find a book you’ve always wanted to read, or one about something you’re curious about.
Commit to reading it over the next month and apply everything you learn as you go.
This is a quick and easy way to make progress in your life.
5. Start a project
Building something is one of the best ways to change your life.
It can be anything:
- A passion project
- A hobby
- A side business
- A relationship
- A house
Whatever you’re interested in. Bonus points if it’s related to the book you’re reading.
Having something to work on and somewhere to apply the things you’re learning about will bring so much meaning and purpose to your life. It’s a great outlet.
6. Meditate
If you want to change your life, you need to become more self-aware.
Self-awareness is a crucial skill that most people don't take the time to develop. The ability to be aware of your thoughts, feelings, wants, and frustrations is invaluable.
When you can objectively witness the contents of your mind and respond without judgment, you will experience an unmatched level of freedom.
Sitting down for just 5 minutes a day to pay attention is life-changing.
7. Cut out processed food
You need to eat well to change your life.
Eating processed food will only hold you back. Start cutting out any processed foods and prioritize single-ingredient foods.
This is an easy way to optimize your nutrition.
