Summary

The article suggests that poverty is perpetuated by a mindset characterized by making excuses, relying on luck, seeking handouts, giving and receiving poor advice, consuming negative information, overanalyzing without action, and spending irresponsibly.

Abstract

The article "7 Things That Poor People Do Daily That Makes Them Poor" posits that poverty is not just a lack of financial resources but a state of mind. It outlines seven habits that contribute to remaining poor: having a multitude of complaints and excuses, believing in luck over effort, expecting to be given things instead of earning them, offering and receiving poor advice, consuming negative rather than educational content, overthinking without taking action, and spending money on non-essentials. The author emphasizes the importance of changing one's mindset and taking responsibility for one's financial situation by adopting better habits and making informed decisions.

The poor are poor and remain poor because they think poor, act poor, develop poor habits, and therefore have poor results. Poverty is a state of mind.

In recent years, I have discovered that many talented people do not progress in their lives because of thoughts such as the following:

  1. They have an infinity of complaints and excuses. “Poverty and excuses are intimate friends. They adore each other in the dark.” You can have money or have excuses, not both at the same time. These people always have an excuse to justify their inaction.
  2. They believe in luck. Too many people rely on luck to justify why others do and don’t. It is perhaps the most ridiculous of all thoughts. Yet, it is popular because it is the “perfect excuse” to fool others who believe in luck.
  3. They want to be given everything. Most want to be given the fish instead of learning to fish. The rich countries are the countries that have fewer dependent people. In countries like mine, people are proud of being hit without doing anything. There is a difference.
  4. They advise themselves incorrectly. They criticize those who have bread under their arms instead of learning from them. In addition to that, they get advice on money issues from people just as broke as they are (I’ve never understood this logic).
  5. They feed on incorrect information: Instead of reading and listening to positive news, financial education, personal development, etc. (sometimes they even make fun of those who do it), they spend their time reading the newspaper and listening to all the negative news on the radio and TV and for having (as if they were going to revive the dead or fix the economy) justifying that they have to find out what’s going on in the world (but they don’t know what’s going on in their own home)
  6. They die in analysis paralysis: In my case, I live in the country of projects. They all have one (sometimes up to 3), but they never get anywhere as they spend their time thinking about running the project instead of just running it.
  7. They spend it all: They spend everything they have and even what they don’t have, mostly on unnecessary things.

The poor have to stop making excuses, get to work, and stop blaming others for their bad decisions and the bad decisions of family generations.
