Your body and mind don’t operate like a light switch. We are not either off or on, we are always just being. Overindulgence, lack of consistency, mindfulness, and an all-or-nothing mindset often leave us feeling slow, groggy, and lazy for months after the season. What’s more important is to enjoy the holiday season while still being mindful of how much you are eating, how much movement you are getting, and what kind of habits you may be subconsciously adopting for the long term.
Avoiding holiday weight gain is not just about maintaining appearance; it’s a crucial aspect of preserving overall health. The holiday season, with its abundance of food and festivities, can pose significant health challenges. I outline seven compelling reasons why it’s important to avoid gaining weight during the holidays for the sake of your long-term health and well-being.
