7 Quotes From “Schitt’s Creek” That Will Make You Feel Great

If you haven’t seen “Schitt’s Creek”, you’re missing out. It’s the story of the Rose family and their journey from riches to small-town life in a quaint little town called, you guessed it, Schitt’s Creek.

The show is heartwarming, funny, and a welcome distraction right now. I’ve been rewatching it from the beginning with my mom as a way to avoid election coverage on MSNBC.

Read on for seven quotes from the show that will lift your mood and make you laugh out loud.

Alexis Rose (the daughter) is the woman you need if you’re facing a unique situation or you feel that you’re in danger. Chances are, she’s been there, and she’s got the advice you need to get you through whatever hangup you’re in. Case in point:

“Oh in case you wake up in a chair with your hands duct-taped together, you can snap the duct tape by just raising your hands over your head and then bringing them down really hard.”

Alexis also has good taste and isn’t afraid to show it — although she can be a bit too literal at times, but that’s okay because she’s hilarious.

“I don’t skate through life, David. I walk through life, in really nice shoes.”

Moira (the matriarch) is the epitome of grace under pressure. Or at least she tries to be. She also isn’t afraid to toot her own horn and claim every “win” she gets, no matter how small. For example:

“I once hosted the non-televised portion of the People’s Choice Awards.”

The next time you’re feeling underappreciated, be like Moira and remind people of your accomplishments. All the time.

And then there’s David, the proud son of the Rose family. Pretty much every line he says is comedic gold, but here are a few highlights.

For example, in this quote, we see David relating his fashion sense across economic boundaries:

David: “I got these at a showroom in Paris.”

Stevie: “I got these on a clearance rack at Target.”

Clearly, Stevie (who’s lived in Schitt’s Creek her whole life) has never been to Paris for a fashion show. But she ends up teaching David a few things about how to survive in the “real world” of her hometown.

In this next quote, David’s not afraid to claim what he needs: a little medicinal help, a good cry, and an early bedtime. But the way he says it is so relatable; haven’t we all been there?

“I plan on popping a pill, crying a bit, and falling asleep early.”

Despite being brilliantly well-versed in the art of understated snark, David doesn’t always feel like sharing his hilarious personality with the world. Here, he compares himself, quite unironically, to the Queen of England:

“You know, being approachable isn’t that important anyway. The Queen hasn’t smiled since the ’70s, and her birthdays are still very well attended.”

And this quote is one we introverts need to keep in our back pockets for those times when people just won’t accept our “no” to their social invitation:

“I’m trying very hard not to connect with people right now.”
