7 Powerful Traits Of The Top 1% Writers
Find out if you will be in the top 1%
I’ve been writing on the Internet for almost 2 months.
I would never thought that I would write something online other than Instagram post descriptions. I remember typing my first words on Medium.
It was an extraordinary feeling because :
I realized the powerfulness of words when I saw my first $ for my words. But words are not the only condition for skyrocketing as a writer and joining the top 1%.
What are the traits?
1. Clarity
The best writers are the ones who write in a way their audience isn’t lost.
I’m always putting questions in my writing for the reader to understand where and how.
One idea at a time. This is my rule. Do not develop multiple ideas it will only lose the reader.
You can’t put every idea too much in the title so it won’t accurately describe your story and many readers will run away.
2. Personality
The top 1% have an interesting personality. When often stick to people who can assert themselves as strong individuals.
They know how to bind their writing with personal experiences and some personal stories.
It’s always interesting to learn new things but it’s always more entertaining to learn them knowing how the writer achieved them.
3. Knowledge
It accompanies personality. A good writer knows a lot, not only by experiencing “things” but also by reading, exploring, and learning.
I found out that the best writers have an interesting personal background.
Reading James Clear is passionate because of his incredible knowledge on every topic but also because of his experiences.
Sharing knowledge is valuable for the reader. That’s what he’s usually searching for. It helps us understand the world we live in.
4. Value
Writing is giving value.
That’s why so many people are paying for the Medium membership. They are in search of value.
So give them it.
I love reading about relationships and how I can improve them because it helps me in my personal life. I can apply what I’m reading.
Writing can also entertain. It’s up to you to choose.
I prefer giving value.
5. Consistency
As a reader, I love writers who are publishing consistently that’s why I’m following them. I know they will publish something new soon and I’m waiting for their new story.
But I love consistency combined with quality.
Some writers are getting consistency as “publishing a ton of stories every day”
That’s not what I mean.
Good consistency is when the readers know you are not going to disappear for a week but also that you are not going to flood their feed with cheap spam stories.
6. Emotions
A good book can make you happy or cry.
Writing is about emotions. The writer helps solve problems because he is the one controlling emotions through his writing and helping the reader to do so.
All our life is about controlling emotions — someone who doesn’t control his emotions doesn’t control himself.
7. Confidence
Being confident as a writer is the key.
You can’t attract people if you don’t seem to be sure about what you are writing.
Will you read a writer who’s talking about relationships without being sure he’s giving real advice?
No.
Remember, as a writer, the reader judges your words.
