7 Must-Watch Movies for Entrepreneurs
To be successful, entrepreneurs need a lot of inspiration and motivation, which is what these movies are about.
Being an entrepreneur is a wonderful way to make your mark on the world but it can prove tough. In these tough times, you may find yourself asking, “Why did I start it?” or “I’m not sure what to do next. Should I give up?”
While there are plenty of books that help you with the answer to the first question, “Why?”, this article aims to answer the second and third questions.
Yes, it’s tough, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I want to show you what that light looks like. I want to show you how a movie can inspire and encourage you to keep going even when the going gets rough.
If you’re an entrepreneur and you feel like you’ve lost your way, I think watching certain movies will lift your spirits and motivate you to get back on track.
I’ve selected seven must-watch movies that will inspire you to keep going.
1. Rocky by John G. Avildsen:
Right off the bat, I’ll tell you that Rocky is not just one of the best movies ever made, it is also one of the best movies for entrepreneurs. The movie tells the story of an underdog who believes in himself against all odds. He wants to do it. He needs to do it. But he’s afraid of failure… and failure is not an option for him. He knows this because if he fails, he will lose everything and everyone that he loves.
Throughout the movie, Rocky fights his inner demons to get past all the obstacles in his way. In the end, he overcomes all of them to fulfill his dream of proving his worth.
What entrepreneur doesn’t have self-doubt? I mean, if you’re not struggling with it, you’re probably getting by on luck. And if you’re not getting past it, you’re not going to be able to reach your full potential as an entrepreneur.
2. Steve Jobs by Danny Boyle:
So when I said Rocky was one of the must-watch movies for entrepreneurs, I was not lying. Steve Jobs is not just a great movie for entrepreneurs, it is a movie that will inspire you to go after what you want and to do whatever it takes to fulfill your dreams.
The movie tells the story of a young man who struggled with his identity. He didn’t fit in at school. He was just a kid and he didn’t have anyone else to look up to. But then Apple came along and made him a star. He went from being an anonymous employee to a wealthy, powerful, and respected leader.
All it took was believing in himself. He also needed to be willing to work hard and fight for what he wanted despite the odds against him.
The same struggle applies to entrepreneurs: We start out with nothing; no backers, no supporters, no money, and so on. We believe in what we are doing and we are willing to fight for what we want. After all, if you can’t go get it, then you’re not going to get it.
3. The founder by John Lee Hancock:
This movie is about two guys who are on the verge of making a huge change in their lives. They’re frustrated with their current situation and they want to do something about it.
They don’t know what to do…but then it hits them. It’s the answer. It’s the change they have been searching for, and it’s theirs to make. It gives them all the motivation they need to take action and start a company that could take their life in new directions.
For most entrepreneurs, the idea of starting a business is exciting. It’s fun to dream about what life would be like if the business succeeds. But in the midst of a failing economy, sometimes it’s hard to get past this phase. If you’re struggling with this, watch this movie to get your mind back on track.
4. Pursuit of Happyness by Gabriele Muccino:
Throughout this Will Smith movie, we see that his character is struggling with a lot of things. He has a family, a job, and an identity crisis. But all of these struggles lead him to realize what’s really important in life. He came to a point where he wanted to go back to being a young boy who believed in his dreams and had a vision for the future. He wanted to be that young boy again, but this time he didn’t want to be lost.
This movie is about a man named Chris Gardner and the journey he took to build a company. But more than that, this movie is about what it means to be successful. It’s about chasing your dreams and not giving up on them, despite all the hardships you have to endure along the way.
The movie shows how being happy can bring you more success than money ever will be able to buy. It teaches that giving always brings back more than receiving.
Gardner’s philosophy is echoed in the world of entrepreneurship. If you can find a way to be happy in your work, life, and yourself, then you’ll have all that it takes to become successful.
5. Avatar by James Cameron:
This movie is about a company that wants something very badly and they’re willing to do absolutely anything to achieve their goal. It’s about a corporate raid on a native tribe that lives in a paradise, and it’s about people who just love their freedom and aren’t willing to give it up.
That’s the type of world we live in, too. We live in a world where we’re forced to make decisions that affect other people’s lives. We live in a world where we cannot expect to be treated equally.
And in this world, it’s important for us to know how to do our job so we can make an impact. It’s important for us to know how to be the best. It’s important for us to be proud of the work we do.
6. The Social Network by David Fincher:
This movie is about two friends who love technology and business to the point where they forget to care about the people around them. They’re so focused on what they want that they lose sight of what matters most.
We see this kind of behavior in entrepreneurs all the time. They’re so focused on their product that they forget to focus on the customers who are going to buy it. They’re so worried about making money they forget to make a product that people will love and want to continue using.
There are other important lessons that can be learned from this movie, but for now, I think you get the point.
7. Ford vs Ferrari by James Mangold:
This movie is about two very different companies that take on the same goal. They’re so different in every way that it’s kind of a miracle that they can even operate in the same world or work with each other. But they do and it makes for some great competition.
What I’m trying to say is that it’s important to be different. It’s important to stand out from the rest of the pack. It’s important for us to go against the grain and do things differently than everyone else.
In the business world, we often think that the world is a competition. That we’re all in this together or that competition is what drives progress. But it’s not true. It’s the people in a company who are a part of the competition. They are the ones who push forward. They are the ones who make a business great.
The point is, all of these movies tell a story about people who want something very badly and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it.
These movies have one thing in common: They show you how to believe in yourself and what to fight for.
I believe this list of movies to watch as an entrepreneur is a great way to inspire you or refresh your mind. Whether you’re struggling with your own business, wanting to create the next big thing, or just trying to find motivation, these movies are a must-watch.
I’m sure you’ll find inspiration in them all.
