7 Most Shocking Events In The History
Terrible times when horrors came to life.

These 7 most deadly and horrific events that shaped history will have you break out in a cold sweat and have goosebumps crawling all over you.
Since they were driven by such utter hatred and brutality that one finds it hard to believe humans have it in them and are capable of inflicting such terrible horrors on others.
How many events that make this list were you already aware of?
Read on to find out. This list is not chronological and is based on the intensity with which the world condemned them.
7- Horrors of the Holocaust

The Holocaust is one item on the list that all of us have heard of.
Either in history classes or as stories from survivors that continue to break their silence and, to this day, are immensely traumatized and scarred by the events of World War II.
This mass genocide was so mindlessly brutal that it tops our list.
It all began with Adolf Hitler, a nasty, racist jerk. He was targeting Jews solely on their race, religion, and ethnicity.
This literal monster was not only racist but practiced this racism through several massacres and executions of the Jews, the Holocaust being the most prominent example.
Hitler was an Austrian-German dictator who thought he was cleansing the world by getting rid of the Jews.
He transformed the whole world into a war zone.
The Holocaust was a mass genocide recorded to have killed around 2/3rd of Europe’s Jewish population at the time.
What was it, though, you might be wondering?
What about the Holocaust makes it so terrible? Jewish buildings and businesses were ransacked and burned.
Jews were transported through freight trains to extermination camps, where they were murdered in gas chambers.
They were made to starve or left to die of diseases if Nazi soldiers did not open fire and kill innocent Jews first.
6- World War II

World War II, I do not think, needs much explanation. It is in connection with the Holocaust too.
World War II started because the monstrous dictator Hitler thought the Jews were inferior to his race. So he set about exterminating them.
Now, since we call it a ‘world’ war, other countries also quite obviously got involved as if the situation in Nazi Germany did not suck enough.
Unfortunately, the Holocaust was not the only tragedy of World War 2.
There was also an attack on Pearl Harbour in the USA and the nuclear bomb attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japanese cities.
An estimated 40 to 50 million people have lost their lives in this 6-year-long war.
5- The War of Terror- Heartless 9/11 Attack

9/11 was a series of four coordinated suicide terrorist attacks believed to have been led by the extremist terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.
On September 11, 2001, as a result of two plane crashes, in the twin towers of America’s World Trade Center around 3000 innocent civilians lost their lives.
Around 6000 people were severely injured as the two towers collapsed. A third plane crashed in the Pentagon office in Arlington, Virginia.
4- The Black Death

The Black Death seems too personal after Covid-19 swept the floor from under our feet. Leaving us all reeling with our routines and lives ruined.
The black death tops the highest death toll of all events that are mentioned in the article. It killed around 1/3rd of the entire world’s population.
Entire villages would be wiped out, and settlements would be a breeding ground for this disease.
It was a bubonic plague infection that affected Eurasia and North Africa.
3- The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

During World War 2, a logically accurate but morally horrific move was made.
American warplanes dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing millions of innocent civilians that had nothing to do with the war.
These atomic attacks had such dire repercussions that, to this day, children born in these cities have disabilities caused by the side effects of the nuclear bombs.
2- Testament of a Sick Mentality in Society
The slave trade has been in our society for a lot of years now. The Romans were one of the earliest slavers.
They enslaved people from all nationalities and ethnicities, especially Africans who were racially discriminated against. This practice has continued to this day.
People from all over the world, especially third-world nations, are trafficked as sex slaves or serfs worldwide.
In this, primarily colored people were and are still targeted, leading to the misplaced and twisted notion of black being the inferior race.
It also gave rise to the Apartheid movement, where black people were segregated and or enslaved in America.
1- Sinking Of the Titanic

Someone played ‘My heart will go on by Celine Dion, the theme song of the famous Hollywood movie ‘Titanic.’
Unfortunately, the sinking of this fantastic cruise liner was not as romantic as Leonardo Di Caprio, and Kate Winslet made it out to be (let’s not even start on how Rose could have given Jack space on the door she was floating on instead of letting him drown.)
The Titanic was not as unsinkable as the media of that time claimed.
Around 1500 people lost their lives when it sank, and the ship’s wreck still sits at the bottom of the Atlantic.
Point To Ponder
So, how many of these events have you heard about? Or, if you had heard about any, were you aware of the scale of devastation they caused?
This makes me realize that humans can be violent and cause significant guerilla blood baths.
However, nature is no less bloodthirsty when it lets its killer streak show, as we can see through the sinking of the titanic due to an iceberg the sailors failed to see.
