7 Common Personality Traits That Prove You’re a Visionary
Even if you don’t know it, your hidden talent speaks louder than words.

One thing distinguishes CEOs of large corporations, business tycoons, famous software creators, and many influential leaders from the common man.
I remember those periods of imaginative play from my childhood. I would imagine playing piano in a room full of people, putting smiles on their faces. I would practice playing difficult notes. Hurting my fingers and back from extensive training. The idea of being a famous pianist cheered me up when I’m angry.
Going to school was only fun because of my piano lessons. I would skip lunch to go watch seniors practicing in our music room. But as I grew older, I realized my vision wasn’t to be a pianist but to be successful and make a difference.
A vision not only drives people to do more but to do more than they think they can. When you are in the presence of a true visionary, you can feel the power of him. Visionaries are powerful because they are focused and present.
Because visionaries are present and focused, you can easily connect with their emotions when they talk about what they have in mind, when they teach you something, or perform a task.
Clarification on what a vision should be
Every successful person I’ve talked to saw vision differently. But in all these discussions, I discovered that there were some traits of a strong vision that remained constant.
While it is not easy to fully understand what vision is. Below are some descriptions to debunk your confusion on what a vision should or should not be:
Vision must be people-oriented: an important factor in vision is people and taking care of their needs. If a vision is not formed around people and their needs, then it is not a vision but a personal ambition.
A vision reveals a path to success: As you pursue your vision, look for the signs and clues that will lead you to success. Those signs always come in different forms- words of encouragement, expressions, and answers to critical questions from strangers. Paying attention to these signs helps people spot opportunities while determining the most effective path to success.
Vision generates a feeling of enthusiasm: A person with a vision is not apathetic about it. A strong vision is always accompanied by great excitement. In reality, the vision itself is a strong emotion. If a person is not enthusiastic about his vision, that person may have a goal and not a vision.
Vision makes you accountable: Having a vision means you take on a responsibility that has an impact on people’s lives. And the greater the vision, the greater the responsibility. It can be intimidating to take on all that responsibility, but it will reward you in return.
The difference between a realist and a visionary
I think there are differences in the mindset of the visionary versus that of a realist. Both are not bad. Just that they are different, we need both individuals for the world to function properly.
A realist is someone who can look for things as they are and deal with them in a practical way — for example, an artist or philosopher who believes in showing and discussing realism.
My former boss likes to seek new experiences and take advantage of obstacles. When it comes to problem-solving decisions, he asks many important questions, but they are not the same questions that I would ask.
He is an observer and likes to observe people, but what happens in his head is very different from mine. His flaw was that he couldn’t see the big picture when developing a strategic plan.
His solution usually solves the immediate problem but won’t solve the bigger problem we were facing. Sometimes he would acknowledge my opinion, but other times, he would feel intimated and dismiss them.
The most striking difference between a visionary and a realist is that the latter does not perceive the big picture. They become blind to the harmony and unity that connects all that exists and ensures coherence by referring to the source of all existence.
Visionaries see the bigger picture in every action. They think creatively and imaginatively about the future. He is someone who has unusual or progressive ideas about the future and the present.
You can recognize a visionary for his ability to envision the future. In a group of people, visionaries talk about the big picture and how different factors interact to create that image. They see the whole process and not a single step.
My dad was a visionary. Most of the things he taught us about life helped shape our dreams. His foresightedness is one quality I loved about him. His committee of friends mourned the loss of a credible leader. Our church members still speak of his remarkable contributions to date.
Although it may be difficult to tell the difference between a realist and a visionary, it will be important to note that every visionary has some common traits, as per my discovery from famous visionaries of all times. Let’s take a look at their striking personality traits:
They have innovative skills
Visionaries have great imaginations. These types of leaders are innovative and try to communicate with others in different ways. They like to argue with others for their best justification. They are professionals. His style of thinking and working is entirely different from that of others.
They are transparent
Even if they are committed to the big picture in their mind, they can be flexible about how to achieve that vision. They are not limited to their own thoughts and ideas. When speaking with a visionary leader, he or she is open to what he or she is talking about and listens carefully to her ideas and thoughts.
They have creative imaginations
Logically, these people focus on subjective information rather than emotional. They try to decide with rational evidence. They are creative and skilled. They show their creativity when necessary. In a bad situation, they can handle anything with their creative thoughts.
They inspire those around them
These types of people have a magical quality. They have a good quality of friendship and know how to attract people. They know how to make us passionate about a goal or vision.
They are good at team work
They are team builders. Due to their positive attitude, true visionaries are surrounded by positive people who are willing to help them achieve a common vision. They use the strengths of their team members to balance their own weaknesses and embrace creativity and new ideas.
They have strong optimism
The visionary cannot lose hope. They stay positive in any situation. They are hard workers; and tend to do their best to achieve their goals. They see the bright future and temporary problems. Those around them draw strength from their firm optimism.
They are strategic planners
Strategic planning is a skill that many visionary leaders possess. They can imagine what they want the future to be like and then devise a strategy to get there. They are punctual and always keep an alternative option. They know what is appropriate and where it is.
Having a vision is an outstanding leadership and success tool. It defines why and where effort should be concentrated. No one can achieve anything great on their own. Your vision is what attracts the people necessary to realize what you want to achieve.
If you have these traits, I congratulate you on being a visionary leader. If you don’t have some of these signs, you can take the initiative and hone your skills to become a fully visionary leader.
