I joined Basic Medium Partner Program in December 2023 and made $109.88 from my stories.

I was happy with the earnings, but I wanted to try the Friend of Medium membership, which costs $15 per month.

I thought it would help me earn more money and support other writers.

But I was wrong. In January 2024, I only earned $84.95.

The Friend of Medium membership does not increase your earnings, it only increases the earnings of the writers you read.

So you are basically paying them to read their stories.

I don’t think this is fair or worth it.

I canceled my Friend of Medium membership in February and went back to the basic membership, which costs $5 per month.

I hope I can earn more money in March.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Medium and I think it’s a great platform for writers and readers.
