Hello readers and thank you to those who made a specific effort to look out for this particular story. I know many followers are eager to find out how things are progressing with me, since I wrote my 6-month burnout story.

I’m sure I probably added to the curiosity, when I placed a note at the end of the story and alerted everyone to the story you’re currently reading.

I even inserted the ready-made title, because even at that point, I could see my earnings starting to rise — at least with regard to the burnout story.

Well, it’s thirty days later, and all I can say is:

Whew! That 30 days sure went by fast!

I’d be really naive to assume that you are not really interested in how much I’ve actually earned over the course of the month.

I can understand your curiosity, especially if you noticed how well the burnout story seemed to be doing. So without further ado, allow me to give you the stats and details you’re wondering about.

Here’s what happened since I published the story about my 6-month Medium journey

My earnings actually stayed on the same progressive course, although I can’t lie, it’s still a relatively slow progression.

But unlike before, I’m no longer concerned about the pace and I think I’m ready to start exercising more patience.

My total month end earnings for November is as follows:

If you recall, my earnings for October came to $77, with no bonuses or viral-like stories to credit the amount to. So basically, when you exclude the story that took off, I’m earning at a similar pace as before.

The burnout story garnered me at least 1/3 of November’s earnings, as you can see here:

Not only did that particular story do well, but I wrote a few more Medium-related stories after that, and they were also among my highest earners.

I took this screenshot right before the final end of the month tally by Medium. As you can see, many readers remained interested in what my views are about various Medium-related issues

Additional milestones over the past month

When I consider whether or not my situation has improved since the burnout story, my answer is yes and no.

On the one hand, my situation is gradually improving every single day, the same as all of us, as long as we continue to stay proactive.

Think about it: If you drop one single drop in a bucket every day, consistently, it will eventually fill up and even spill over, without fail.

In many ways, the money part of things is never going to be consistent, due to a variety of different factors.

I came to this conclusion, when I thought about the amount that my highest earning story generated in November. Even though I’m thrilled that the story did well, it wasn’t exactly predictable.

If you’re trying to determine what your average monthly earnings will be, I don’t think it makes sense to factor into the equation, one or two stories that happen to do well.

Viral or semi viral stories could possibly become isolated incidents. That means that you may not get the same results from those same stories in the coming months.

So my plan is to stop wracking my brain and trying to figure it out. Just keep writing. That’s what I really care about the most — getting what I want to say out into the universe, and that’s why I’ll be sticking with Medium in 2022 and probably beyond.

Here are a two more recent milestones since writing the burnout story:

Hooray! Did you notice? The story you’re reading put me over the 500 stories mark (it’s a good thing too, because I announced it about four stories ago, which was technically cheating)!

I’m also pretty proud of all the engagement I’ve been doing, bringing my total number of responses for the past seven months to a whopping 1,516!

I guess that means it’s official. AFTER the burnout, things really do seem to be looking up! With any kind of luck, things will stay that way.
