60 Mins of Member Reading Time = 2 USD
A quick analysis of how member reading time calculated based on new MPP
Medium has changed its paying structure effective 28-Oct-2019. As per the new structure “member reading time” will be the key factor for earning. We are unclear how this would impact the earning, now, It is been a week and based on the new pay structure earning I did quick math on how the earnings are calculated.

You can find this metric in your desktop/mobile browser under Stats → Under your published story → Click “Details” → Your story’s impact → Member Reading Time

In the above picture, you can see the member reading time. It is from 3rd November. You can hover the pointer on the graph and check this for individual days.
How to predict?
Now, we know “Member reading time” will earn money for us. But, how do we calculate the exact amount?
Based on the earnings from 28-Oct-2019 to 03-Nov-2019, I have calculated the earnings as below.
10Mins of reading time = Approx. 30–36Cents
20Mins of reading time = Approx. 72Cents
30Mins of reading time = Approx. 1.08Cents
40Mins of reading time = Approx. 1.44Cents
50Mins of reading time = Approx. 1.80Cents
60Mins(1 Hour) of reading time = Approx. 2.16Cents
I did a quick analysis of my earnings and taken 0.36Cents to calculate, if you get 30cents for 10Mins, then for 60mins you will get 1.80Cents.
Apart from this, there is another factor(How much of their monthly reading time members spend on your story) for earnings as per Medium Help.
However, I have no idea how their algorithm works ;)
