Have you ever heard a loud “No” from parents when you wanted to try a new thing back in your childhood?

Many of us have experiences from adolescence that influence our actions unconsciously. Our parent's responsibility was to protect us by providing love, food, education, and so on. Without intention to built any limiting beliefs, they tried their best to keep us safe and content.

Some parents used to say things like:

  • Be careful with this.
  • It is dangerous, don't try that.
  • Be in this way; it is safer.
  • Don’t try another path.

Sure, nobody teaches you how to be a parent, no judgment. But certain habits are attached to our brain. And create borders that complicate our way of exploring new experiences.

That’s why is important to know how negative language impact people and why “No” should be limited.

And a big reason why many of us ruminate by doubts at the moment to make choices. We are scared to try something new. We love to be in “the safe zone,” where all seem easy. When uncertainty approaches, we take a different path avoiding face it.

Neglecting the idea about if you overcome that wall, your story can change forever.

So, how to recognize that at the right time? It is not that hard if you take at least one day to notice the things you are scared of the most.

These 6 ways can help you cope with those moments and say “yes” to learn new things and avoid regret later.

Remember, Regrets Are Worst Than Failures

If you grasp that failure is a natural step to achieve success, you are on the right path. When I worked as a waiter, a regular customer said something that resonated with me.

When I think about, it reinforces my current thought and avoids regret for past choices.

He said. You know Chamarro I wanted to be a writer all my life I was waiting for the perfect moment, that moment never arrived. Working on different things, getting busy and scare to try and publish something. Time flied I never started until now.

Now he has a wondrous time writing; he is 62 years old and lamented that he didn't start earlier.

“It is never late, I know,” he said, ” but the reality was I was scared all my life. That was the real cause. I should have faced it before.”

I felt a sincere regret in his words.

Sure, it is never late. But why not gain time and face the fears we all have rather than making a habit of postponing things waiting for the perfect time.

Identify the Root Cause

We all have fear; when I came here to NY, I used to fear talking with people. Being a waiter wasn't the best choice to avoid it. I had to chat with customers to know their desires. And some of them wanted to have a long dialogue. I preferred low tips rather than face my insecurities, refusing the idea to engage with them.

That reaction popped up on autopilot. I never even think why? The problem was I never paused to ponder why I had that feeling.

When I embraced that, my fear was the lack of speaking fluently. That my English wasn't clear, and I was scared to feel embarrassed in front of others. It was the moment to take action about it.

Sometimes you don't recognize what is bothering you, and you react without even grasp those emotions. It took me 5 minutes to comprehend it. Then I decided to practice more to improve my accent, vocabulary, and English skills.

When you make a pause to understand your fear you will realize what is the thought which creates that emotion and produces that reaction.

And you will see it is not a big deal, and the solution is not as arduous as you think.

Keep Your Eyes on the Goal To Avoid Fear While Being Present

Unconsciously as human beings, we tend to think of the bad outcome instead of a good one. It is our sense of protection. When you are aware of this, you make things easy and avoid taking that fear seriously.

Unless you are thinking of fighting with a Gorilla, it doesn't make sense to overestimate decisions that can lead to better outcomes. Most of us neglect choices because we are scared to have awkward moments.

Contrary, after overcomes those rough times, you feel motivated and confident. And reassure yourself that it wasn't that hard.

Many people keep their eyes on the goal, others on the process. But what about both. In my humble opinion, I truly believe you can have a crystal-clear goal meanwhile focusing on enjoying the process.

The key is to keep in your mind what you really want instead of focusing on what you don't.

Know What You Need To Avoid and Focus on Moving Forward

There is no need to take huge steps to face your fears. Tiny things every day can help you to have incredible results.

If you hesitate to face some situations because of uncertainty, you can take different ways to confront them. Instead of postponing it, try to push yourself to do something small.

For example, if you want to talk with your boos about a raise, try to outline your speech and practice in front of the mirror, don't worry; no one will observe you. Choosing the right words to have the confidence to talk with ease.

The worst choice is doing nothing about it. Just taking small actions every day to improve is a big step. But never ignore them. When something is bothering you, and you cannot recognize it. It is a big sign you need a pause to reflect rather than ignore and continue with that pain.

Never Say Never Even if You Don’t Believe

This is something everyone should avoid in all situations. When you said never means you are closing the door to many things that you don't certainly know can bring you joy in your entire life.

Other words also influence your emotions, like ”I cannot or but.” Those words just putting boundaries in our minds.

Instead of saying I cannot, you can say “I need to practice more,” and replace “but“ that is linked with unsatisfaction for “and” that gives some ideas to sum something in your day.

These tiny changes in your language seem irrelevant, although they can improve the ability to have the confidence to make decisions with ease. When confidence is entering your inner home, fear escapes from the windows.

Trust Your Inner Guide Faith Is Your Best Friend

I certainly believe we, deep down, know the answer to all the problems we have. The hardest part is you have to know yourself better to identify the answer.

We spend precious time trying to make others happy. Worrying about what they are thinking about us. But we never focus on ourselves.

Spending time with yourself helps. At least some minutes in silence, thinking about what you can do to face that situation. You can ask questions like:

  • Can I face these circumstances now? I have total control of it? Or is it out of my control?
  • Is there any person who passed through a similar problem? Can I ask for advice?

By asking these questions, you will have an idea of overcoming that fear and taking action with ease.

There is nothing that complicated in life. As maria Forleo states in the title of her book, “Everything is a figureoutable.”

Awareness is the medicine to recognize the signs, thoughts, emotions and overcome everything we hesitate in life.
