These underrated tools will supercharge your efforts as you tackle upcoming goals and dreams.

As we embark on a new year, many of us set ambitious goals, hoping to transform various aspects of our lives. However, the journey from setting to achieving these goals is often challenging. The right tools can act as catalysts, propelling us towards our objectives with greater speed and efficiency. Leveraging these underrated tools can substantially enhance your ability to reach your New Year’s goals more efficiently. From digital organization and tracking to educational resources and community support, each tool offers unique benefits that cater to different aspects of goal achievement.

However, don’t forgo the most important aspects of change: different actions and an undeniable mindset.

Remember, while tools can provide support and structure, your commitment and action are irreplaceable in the journey towards your goals.

1. Goal-Setting Apps

Digital goal-setting apps like GoalsOnTrack or Habitica offer structured platforms for defining, tracking, and managing goals. These apps provide reminders, progress tracking, and motivational tools, ensuring you stay on track and can adjust your strategies as needed.

Personally, I use Trainerize with my clients, which helps us to establish and monitor their process goals, nutrition, and fitness programs.

2. Financial Planning Software

For financial goals, tools like Mint or You Need A Budget (YNAB) are invaluable. They help in budgeting, tracking expenses, and planning savings. By giving a clear view of your financial health, they guide you in making informed decisions that align with your financial objectives.

Gaining control of your finances is one of the most underrated ways to gain control of your life. To build a new you this year, don’t dismiss the power tracking, saving, and allocating your expenses.

3. Fitness Trackers and Apps

If fitness is a part (let’s face it, it most likely is) of your New Year’s resolution, fitness trackers and apps like Fitbit or my favorites, MyFitnessPal and Apple Health, are essential. They monitor physical activities, diet, and sleep patterns, offering a comprehensive approach to health and fitness goals.

I use my Apple watch every day to help manage my active time versus non-active time. This is essential in ensuring I hit anywhere between 8,000 to 12,000 steps per day (one of my process goals).

3. Educational Platforms

For goals related to learning or skill development, platforms like Coursera, Udemy, or LinkedIn Learning offer a plethora of courses across various fields. These resources make learning accessible and manageable, fitting into various schedules and learning styles.

I use Udemy Pro and LinkedIn Learning to ensure I keep my skillset sharp while also cultivating a digital mindset (critical for today’s information age).

4. Productivity Tools

Tools like Trello, Asana, and Evernote enhance productivity and organization. They are particularly effective for project-based goals, allowing you to break down tasks, set deadlines, and collaborate with others if needed.

5. Meditation and Mindfulness Apps

Apps like Headspace or Calm are excellent for mental health and mindfulness goals. They provide guided meditations, sleep stories, and breathing exercises to reduce stress and improve focus, which is crucial for staying committed to your goals.

Although I don’t practice meditation, I am an advocate for mindfulness and staying present. It is the foundation of deep work, a superpower in the world of distraction.

6. Social Support Networks

Platforms like Meetup or specific Facebook groups can connect you with like-minded individuals. Sharing your journey with a supportive community can provide motivation, advice, and accountability. I started playing pickleball in 2023, and Facebook groups are still alive and well. Through it, I have been able to connect with other players with similar levels.

I also have several friends in a gym group that helps to keep me accountable at the gym. Finding a tribe of like-minded individuals is critical in creating a positive environment that supports your goals.

Furthermore, I am a part of a Live group coaching program, another critical aspect of staying focused on the right things while moving in the right direction.

2024 is the year of everything. Leverage these tools, forge your mental game, and attack the process.
