6 Reasons Why You Must Travel With Your Family
#1 — Be inspired and escape your “house bubble”

Do you like to travel with your family?
When you have kids, anything can go wrong. But the experience has the potential to go right too.
As my kids get older and grow more independent I see aspects of traveling that get a little easier.
No matter the age of your kids, you should not put off traveling together. Here are reasons why it’s worth it.
When you travel, you get inspired by escaping your “house bubble”.
A routine can be good, especially with kids. I’m a mom and can totally relate to the benefits of a solid routine.
But sometimes routines make you too comfortable.
You become content in your “house bubble” and forget what others are doing in the real world. It isn’t easy to learn new things in a routine.
Changing up your surroundings and traveling to somewhere new allows you to have new experiences.
It also helps your kids learn important life lessons like how to adapt to new places and new people.
Traveling with your family can interrupt what’s predictable and open your eyes to something new.
Travel can strengthen your family connection.
When you experience destinations with your family, you instantly share a connection of that memory for a lifetime.
My family of four will continually be molded by our experiences camping together and traveling to National Parks. It’s just us, the outdoors, and many conversations.
Whether your travel moments together are great or not so good, it’s an experience that bonds you for life.
Traveling opens that door to further open up to one another and connect.
Different travel spots inspire learning.
Traveling somewhere new immediately takes you out of what you know and puts you somewhere unfamiliar.
It creates an environment that empowers you to learn something new.
On our last family vacation, my daughter and son made leaps and bounds swimming. They have been taking lessons, but having a pool for several straight days gave them the chance to test their skills and improve.
Being surrounded by other kids swimming also encouraged them as well to take off their floating devices and swim unassisted.
Often when you travel you are given the chance to be somewhere different that pushes you to do things you ordinarily wouldn’t do.
Parents get to re-experience places through their child’s eyes.
Nothing is more fun as a parent than to revisit a place from your childhood with your own children.
Watching my own children look at the ocean for the first time has never left me.
I still remember my daughter’s first time with the water rushing up to her feet and the smile that came over her face. She was only 1 at the time but so excited.
Even then she was developing a love for the salty water on her toes and the sand beneath her feet.
Getting the chance to travel to where I once was as a child and be in this moment with them is priceless.
Traveling also helps with staying fit as a family.
On many or most of our trips, there tends to be a lot of walking involved.
If it’s not walking, we’re riding bikes or swimming for hours. There is always some physical activity taking place.
When you travel with kids, you’re moving a lot. There may be pockets of relaxation, but they tend to be brief.
For the most part, you are moving and burning lots of calories. This exercise is great for you and your kids.
When you travel, you also develop a flexible mindset.
Roads get closed and flights get canceled. If you travel long enough you see this multiple times.
One of the greatest life lessons you can teach your kids by traveling is to have a flexible mindset.
Never try to hold onto any plan too tightly. Always be ready to roll with what’s unexpected.
On the first day of our trip to Michigan City, Indiana, the original forecast looked sunny. Then the closer we got to our destination, the sky filled with rain clouds.
We could have been upset that we couldn’t go to the beach as planned, but instead, we decided to hang out in the rain at the pool.
The kids had a blast and the parents had a moment to catch up too.
Some of the most unexpected traveling moments end up being the best memories.
It’s important to remain flexible in your planning.
If you are lucky enough to have the means to travel, you should.
Some of my favorite experiences have been trips I went on with my family.
Without hesitation, I would recommend planning your next travel destination today.
