Nothing excites you as your internship
The internship is where majority of students get exposed to working in a proper corporate work environment — Lot to know, lot to learn. Simply, you are the newest-newbie at your workplace.
What to expect?
You will know only about a fraction of work you will carry out for the time of 3 months, 6 months or 12 months as an intern. A world of surprises awaits an every intern — specially if you have a bare understanding where you are headed to work.
Some of the key things to remember:
Rule 1 — Learn something new everyday
It could be directly related to your job role — learn something about the organization you work for, the organization structure or some interesting statistic.
Rule 2 — Get constant feedback
You are employed as an intern to learn and work. So, an intern should make the most of this. Neither does it do any bad nor it makes you any lesser important. Bug your Line Manager and check whether the work you carried out today is admirable!
Rule 3 — Do not always wait till work comes to you
Go for it. Deliver on time and go ask for more.
Rule 4 — Manage your time
Being able to count on is totally based on your delivery. There could be occurrences when the work completed has errors and visible loop-holes. It is obvious to make mistakes as an intern, but learn and improvise. Meet your deadlines and then look thoroughly where you can improve yourself on.
Rule 5 — Communicate
Be as open as you can be with work. Once you are assigned to complete a task, communicate with your assigner till you have no doubts on the work you should carry out — Communication is key.
Rule 6 — Be passionate
Be passionate on what you work. Be willing to learn in order to redeem yourself with supporting and encouraging feedback.
