You know this, yet forget it too often!

1. Sleep quality

You should have 6–10 hours of good sleep, depending on your needs. This is not negotiable.

Benefits of good sleep:

• It keeps your immune system in good shape

• It improves your focus, mental clarity, and productivity.

• It keeps your emotions and psyche stable and balanced.

• Sleep keeps your hormones and metabolism healthy, which will enable you to stay fit or get rid of excess weight

How to improve your sleep:

• Get a lot of sunlight during the day, especially in the morning

• Avoid blue light before going to sleep

• Keep your room cold(ish)

• Avoid stimulants, such as caffeine at least a few hours before going to bed

2. Get up early!

Yes, this is a cliché, but it works for so many people.

Benefits:

• More time for you, even if you’re single

• At least 1 hour of focus, productive, creative time to work on the most important tasks in the morning

• Getting up early usually means better sleep, as you will naturally go to bed earlier

• Sunlight in the morning

If you work night shifts or are simply a night owl, then this isn’t your cup of tea.

3. Eat the right food (for you)

On one side you have vegans and vegetarians (low-fat crew) and on the other side, you have Keto and carnivores (low-carb crew).

The only thing these 2 extremes would agree on is: eat real, single-ingredient food! Don’t eat food-like products. If it doesn’t grow on a tree/plant or it’s not an animal product (not an insect), skip it. I am into low carb, but you find what works for you. Only real food!

4. Move & Lift!

Exercising in any shape or form is very important for our health and general well-being. A sedentary lifestyle is detrimental to human beings. Just walking for 10 minutes after a meal, will have a significant effect on your body & soul.

Walking, jogging, or resistance training: all have their benefits and advantages.

Walking is a MUST!

Jogging/running is desirable because of its cardiovascular advantages

Resistance (weights or calisthenics) training: muscles are important for your bone density, for controlling your blood pressure and sugar, and for weight control.

5. Ice Bath/Sauna

Extreme cold and hot are well-known ways to boost your health and mood. Both of them cause a strong hormetic effect on your body and soul.

Ice bath/cold shower benefits:

• Stronger immune system

• Mental strength — if you start your day with a cold shower, everything else will be easier afterward

• Better focus and clarity

Sauna benefits:

• It lowers your stress

• It improves your cardiovascular health

• It decreases pain, particularly in the joints, and can help with skin problems

• If you combine it with cold showers, you will get a double effect. Try it and see if it works for you

6. Meditation

Meditation, mindfulness, or prayer is a traditional way to calm down and get in touch with yourself and your emotions. This practice is thousands of years old for a good reason.

If you cannot sit for more than 5 minutes and “do nothing”, you can try Tai Chi- a moving meditation and also a martial art. But most of us can handle 5–10 minutes of inner focused time.

Benefits:

• Stress reduction

• Meditation can improve your mental health, and even alleviate depression

• It can increase your self-awareness

• Better sleep

• Better focus and creativity

• Can make you a more kind and compassionate person

How to meditate?

If you have never tried to meditate, it may seem strange and you can get confused about how to do it. There are many different types of meditation, but the best way to start is just breathing deeply and focusing on your breath.

You can start counting to 7 or 10 on the inhale and the same on the exhale. I find counting very useful to go deeper into the meditative state.

If you wish, you can focus on your thoughts: acknowledge them, examine them without judgment, and get a better insight into your subconscious patterns. Also, you can focus on your life dreams and goals, visualize them, and make them vivid and more tangible. That can only help you in manifesting them in real life. The possibilities are endless, you just need to pick the direction.
